Yes. You can freely assign parameters to automation slots. So, you can pick and choose which of the thousands of parameters are to be automated in a track.

Because there are so many parameters in Omnisphere, we let you choose which ones you're interested in automating. That way you don't have to look through a host menu with thousands of parameters. Instead it's just a short menu of the parameters you've selected for automation. As I mentioned, that configuration can be saved for later reuse.

So those will just show up as the first set of parameters available for host automation? Can they be labelled like the macro knobs in NI's Massive, for instance?

quick question for those of you running the beast: do you absolutely have to have 2GB RAM? (saw this system requirement on spec's web site.) what happens if you don't? (i'm max'd at 1.25GB RAM on an m6811 laptop.)

I would assume that like most software, it will still run. It won't likely take two gigs to run the plugin. But you probably won't be able to load more than one or two patches without throttling your RAM and having to freeze.

I haven't used Omni though, so I'm only basing this on other software with similar requirements. Also, remember that sometimes(not sure here) the system requirements take into account your host taking some RAM as well. Some hosts take a couple hundred megabytes of RAM at times by themselves.

For RUNNING a plugin though, it should still be fine.

GlennO, what's the problem with the distortion patches? I understand that there is a problem on the DVD?
What kind of download are you thinking about for trying to sort this out?
How big of a download?
Please make the installation procedure of the download very clear once you have it ready.
When do you think will it be ready?
Will there be a 1.01 release soon with the correction patch included?

Sascha, great to hear from you hear on the forum. I still listen to the Quake II soundtrack frequently, especially "Descent into Cerberon" and "Audio Adrenaline".

If you haven't heard zircon's work collaborating with Pixietricks (Jillian Goldin) you owe to yourself to check it out. It's a different genre but really solid. He's not just a good producer but a good collaborator. Best of luck to the both of you with any future projects.

Not gonna get Omnisphere! Spectrasonics stuff blows me away too much and I get nothing done with it. I just play it and listen in ecstasy. Well I did with the old samples a bought 8 years ago. So I just bought Albino 3. That said... give me a few months of saving up, and I'll come round. As I mentioned, Spectrasonics sounds melt me they are that friggin sweet. Dammit no not gonna reach for that credit card...

So, if I understand well :

1/ You can assign parameters in a kind of internal matrix of Omnisphere (how many ? Does it allows ammounts -3 columns matrix- and bipolar assignation or is it only a simple raw assignation - Controler X goes 2 parameter Y ? )
2/ This can be saved as a kind of .ini or config file that you can recall, but it's not saved within the patch itself, meaning that all your presets will play with the same configuration of automation slots (so its independant from the patch architecture)
3/ I assume that you can at least save more than one template and are not at the same time rewriting a single .ini file.
4/ Other parameters (not included in the intrenal matrix) will not show içn VST host

Or did I miss something ?

There's a problem with the Distortion patches on the DVD. We're preparing a download for those patches to fix that problem which will be available shortly.
