Anyone here have any advice on getting the best performance out of the East West orchestra instruments on Receptor? Particularly DFD settings? I have been experiencing some dropouts with a not terribly dense score, just 12-14 instruments total spread across 2 instances of EW Strings and one EW Brass. This is a Rev B Receptor upgraded to Pro Jr. specs, 2 GB RAM, 400 GB HD, 128 sample buffer connected to DP 5.12 via Uniwire (DP also at 128 buffer).
Memory showed 64% available with this setup, but when I tried loading the strings into RAM by turning off DFD I couldn't get it to work - out of memory errors...admittedly this is a big string setup because I have the Keyswitch versions of each section loaded, Sus and Short.
Any possibility that Kontakt 2 performs better than the Kompakt player included with EWQLSO?
Much appreciate any thoughts on the matter...

Kontakt certainly gets updated more, so I would assume so - this sounds like it could be Kompakt problem but dropouts could ***potentially*** be caused by fragmentation - download Jkdefrag and run it on your drives-

I can load some patches, say i create 4 layers. Then the Receptor has plenty of memory left and CPU is doing okay. The problem is when play more notes or play notes faster the samples don't play okay and the sounds don't play as if there is no polyphony left.
Anyone has also this problem and know a fix??
Using Kontakt East West Gold XP version 1.0.9.003
And DFD 1.2.9
(installed with install file of plugorama).

The first question is 12-14 instruments of what? Not all samples are created equaL, there's a huge difference between say solo violin and Brass ensemble or 100 String sections. First I would try changing the reserved voice buffer. Play your sequence and select a loaded sample. Change the reserved voice buffer to say 3 above what is displays as maxcimun which is 32.
