And you can add your own tags to factory patches and soundsources, so you can make them searchable on tags that you create, if you want. Plus, of course, you can add tags to your own patches. A video tutorial to demonstrate all this is on the way.

And many of them have pretty pictures. You can also search the sound sources by library, if they are part of the bonus content. E.g. search those for "Zimmer" or "Atmosphere" and the sound sources from those libraries appear.

I got my copy yesterday. I live in Los Angeles and audiomimdi.com is in the area so their free shipping gets to me in one day. I want to state that I didn't buy into the hype at all. I'm a fan of RMX and think that the quality of Eric's work is wonderful. I wasn't an Atmosphere owner but felt that Omni would offer me something very different sonically than any other plugins I own.

I must admit that the sheer number of sound sources is a little overwhelming at first but as I drove in last night I started to hear some very cool, really interesting and different sounds. I was pleasantly surprised to find many samples from awesome vintage gear as well as stuff from the Access Virus and Supersaw samples from the JP-8000. I sold my JP years ago and have always regretted it so now at least I have some excellent samples of my beloved synth.

I feel that Omnisphere lives up to my expectations. I was looking for something that would offer unique sounds and a large library and that's exactly what I got. It's a quality product just like RMX.

I think that the people who have it already are only just beginning to understand it. There is a learning curve and there is so much to get your head around. The bottom line is that it sounds fantastic but it may be some time before users truly understand all of its potential.

I'm glad it's on dual layer DVDs. When I was installing EWLQSO Platinum (Native Instruments, not PLAY version) for a friend, it was all on single layer DVDs (as best I can remember) and 60 GB in size. Took a long time and had to swap a lot of disks. Plus the library updates for each section. And the plug-in updates. And DFD extension...

The Omnisphere install was really simple considering what you have to load. I had time to download the patch while the rest installed and it took only a few minutes to install that after the library finished.

I never thought of Orbital or Vangelis when making any of that stuff but maybe those influences are too intrinsic for me to recognize them.

Anyway, I'm sure I could find plenty of stuff to use from either the factory patches or the raw sound sources in Omni. It's just that everything I've heard so far kind of turns me off but I generally feel that way about synth demos.

I have a question about the installation options for Omnisphere. I am using an (Apple) laptop which obviously has limited disk space - 100GB internal, with an external 500 GB drive.

Can the 50 GB library be installed on any connected disk / partition, or - like some products insist - does it need to be installed on the system / startup disk?

Slightly off-topic: it sounds like an awesome product (thanks for the MP3 demo's too

) ... so I'm seriously considering heading down the Omnisphere / Stylus RMX path, but it's a new world for me. I think other forum posts have indicated that I can import my own loops I record from a hardware drum machine in to Stylus RMX to apply their groove templates and effects. Would I also need Recycle to achieve that? i.e. to convert my own loops to Rex format.

You can install it on any drive including external ones.
Make sure you have plenty of RAM.
Requirement is 2GB even thought it will work with less.
