I was about to get Sylenth and then I saw the hugely generous VIP upgrade price which I'm eligible for... now a dilemma!

I was headed to Sylenth for the lush saw unison, for pads and the infamous supersaw sound. Could Omnisphere be as good at doing this? I heard it had the even-more-infamous JP8080 supersaw as a sound source, but I understand it also has its own Unison and Harmonia (though not sure what this is).

To whoever's got Omnisphere already (lucky people), what's the unison like? Can Omnisphere make those familiar supersaw sounds to the same level of excellence as Sylenth?

If anyone has a spare moment and could make a small audio demo, I would be super grateful, but if not I would value any opinions.

The unison is really great! But even more fab is the fact that there are actual samples from the JP-8000 supersaw!! Thats said, this is not the same synth as Sylenth. Very different beast!

Sounds like Omnisphere might be the one to go for...

Just one thing I noticed when I went to save a patch I made - there is no directory for it. You will get an error message when you save to the default "User" directory stating that you cannot save to that location. The message is as follows:

Cannot save into this folder. Navigate to.../Steam/Omnisphere/Settings Library/Patches/User/anyCategory.

Problem is, there is no folder called anyCategory. You have to create it first and then it will work. There is no mention in the Reference Guide about saving patches so this might save you a moment of frustration.

This must be a PC thing. I'm on a Mac and I have saved several patches I made and didn't have this issue at all.

I can't speak to that specifically. My guess would be yes. But I can tell you that if install it on one computer and install the first disc on a second, then you can just copy the other files from the first computer without a problem.

Now I've finally installed the thing I'm delighted and utterly astounded by Omnisphere - it really is that good. And the sheer scale of it is mind boggling... a lot to get to grips with and discover.

One thing that has irked me is that - unless I'm missing something - there's very little by way of a manual or documentation. The box comes with a brief Getting Gtarted guide and the update installs a 'reference manual' but this is scant to say the least; as others have alluded to there's a lot of areas not mentioned at all and what is talked about it done quite briefly. To make matters worth it's in HTML format - yuck! Really I think any manual should be a PDF to make it easily navigatable, viewable across different devices and of course printable so we can read away from the computer.

Not wanting to come across as a whiner about this, but for such a huge synth I would have expected some substantial documentation to say the least. I hope this is in the works...?

Related to this - and something I've not been able to find out about and not mentioned in the user guide - I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are keyboard shortcuts available in Omnisphere? For example, to enable you to quickly flick between the various tabs and pages or to move to the next or preview patch.

i have been looking everywhere and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to save parts (or multis for that matter) im on windows xp and ive been trying to keep up with the forum but nothing....

Click the Utility button with the little disk icon in the top left hand corner. This should do it for you.

I'll admit though that the multitude of browsers - and the fact that saving isn't linked with the browsers - is a little confusing IMO,

I believe another update is scheduled for early next week.
To be included are the Atmosphere patches and a better more complete reference manual.

I have tried the utility button but i cannot seem to get the patch to "stay" meaning it saves to the STEAM folder but when i try to reopen the part or multi in another session of Live STEAM doesnt exist and when i try to make my own directory in windows OS doesnt see it. This is a very annoying problem

If it's Stanstead (and you're nowhere near London) then it probably will be Tuesday, but it seems (according to my tracking at least) that it may be flown to a nearer airport, and then a delivery attempt made the same day. Mine went through Stanstead to East Midlands airport, and they attempted delivery in Plymouth the same day.

.. just a shame I got the address wrong
