Hi,

MU.LAB 2.0 PreRelease A is available for download at http://www.mutools.com/downloads.html

This new version features a handful a fixes, tunings and even 1 new feature: MU.LAB now also loads Ogg Vorbis samples, cfr http://www.mutools.com/mulab/changes.txt

Also the graphics are complete (special thanks to Calum Wilson!) and the documentation is online on a brand new website.

At this point i would like to thank all of you who have helped in finding bugs and finetuning MU.LAB 2.0!

Hope we all have a lot of musical fun with it ;)

Cheers!

Oh well, that didn't last long... :)

On choosing an ASIO driver, the Samplerate box is too small - the dropdown works, though. If you go back into the screen after entering MU.LAB, the box is the right size again.

In the demo, if you stop it at the end, the echo never fades away...

Other than that, I'm not going to try commenting -- I'm in the middle of some serious PC problems and all my MIDI processing sounds rubbish whatever host I'm using. Garrrrrrgh!

Yes, i noticed it here too. Will be fixed.

It's 'intended', there is a part that sets the Echo Feedback to 100%.

But indeed the demo can be finetuned regarding that aspect, should insert also a part at 1.1.0000 so that whenever you change the play position, the composition is also chasing that reset part.

Damn computers!

Good luck!

There appears to be a problem with MU.LAB Ogg Vorbis support and MACs (at least on my PPC G5 iMAC running OSX 10.4.11). The demo sounded terrible until I converted the OGG files to WAVs or AIFFs. I can send you a mixdown if required.

not a problem here (I think from listening to the demo) - 10.4.11 . .
I shall test it tomorrow though.
Terrible sound, in what way exactly?

...night :D

The whole track just sounded like white noise - fixed as soon as i substituted WAVs.

Looks very nice now but it seems to default to full screen and every window takes up the same space which makes things a bit difficult - tabs or a way to have more than one window open would be more useful

It would be nice if automation editing/drawing was more than just straight lines but no curves or ability to edit envelopes smoothly.

Also can I kill the metronome and countin for good somewhere? (Not just deleting it from the project everytime I make one)

Yeah, I get this too. My MuLab is on an external HD. Does it need to be on the boot disk?
iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009), 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB RAM, OSX 10.12.6

Boo... only "samples", not audio parts... :? :phones:

Hmm, I'm having trouble with getting a MultiSampla with large Ogg files to trigger. If I use the virtual keyboard in either MultiSampla or Piano Roll, the sample triggers okay. If I pencil in a note or play my MIDI keyboard, nothing happens.

Oops, that's the risc when doing last minute addons

I really needed OV immediately in order to use compressed samples in the demo, so to keep the demo file size low, and so it was serious development acceleration.

Regarding the bad sound, i assume that is only on PowerPC macs, right?

Think it is an endian issue, will be fixed asap in pr-b! (later today)

Thanks for reporting!

I have an intel Mini - probably the reason why everything is OK...

You can easily resize the window, and of course that position/size is preserved inter-session.
and every window takes up the same space which makes things a bit difficult - tabs or a way to have more than one window open would be more useful
You can open as many plugin windows as you want, also the Modular Plugin Area is in a separate window, and the Rack Desk can also be in a separate window (right-click in the background of the rack desk (i.e. at the very right of the rack desk))

So do you mean you would want the note editor and audio lab in a separate window too?
It would be nice if automation editing/drawing was more than just straight lines but no curves or ability to edit envelopes smoothly.
That's quite high on the whishlist. But MU.LAB can only evolve step by step.
Also can I kill the metronome and countin for good somewhere? (Not just deleting it from the project everytime I make one)
Huh?

If you don't want the metronome, just switch it off, no?

Besides this, note that if you save a session as new.musession in your mu.lab folder, that session is loaded everytime you do "New Session", so you can make your favorite default setup.
