Map SL-37 buttons to Z2 menus?

Hey, have an interesting problem, wonder if anyone can help. I'm trying to set up a Zebra2 template for use with the Novation SL37, and ran into a snag of sorts. I'm trying to map the SL's buttons to various menu items in Zebra2 modules, things like filter type, and Osc FX. I can get it working fine with the normal knobs on the SL, i.e. not the endless rotaries. But I can't figure out how to get the SL's buttons to map to these items. I'd like to be able to press a button above one of the encoders, and have it step through the different menu items. Take Filter type for example. I could use a knob to change the cutoff, and a button above it to cycle through the filter types. This would GREATLY expand the external controller options out there if it could be done.
Anyone ever done this?

Not in the SL but I made a comprehensive template for NI KORE 2 that maps these things. I ended up using a rotary knob to control filter type though - Kore's buttons wouldn't do it as its not simple on/off data. Don't recall having problems mapping the osc fx - I did a whole page for them (each).

Funny, but I was actually considering buying Kore 2 tomorrow. Can I get a copy of that template in case I do?

Sure - the link is in this thread on the NI forum

I also did a tutorial on using it and posted a few example patches

Yo, a rotary encoder can be simulated by sending CC values of 63 (down) or 65 (up) - dunno if that's gonna work with menus though... I guess it should be...?

Will do. Also, I found out that by setting the buttons to transmit CC's, and changing the button type to "Step" I could achieve what I wanted. Now I can press a button to cycle through the filter types, or the OSC warping, etc.R.J.Dubya wrote:Hey Tarekith! You mind sharing that SL automap template when you're done? cheers!

Just a regular template, and a custom default Z2 template to match it. If I finish it...

Hello,
Olly from Novation here.......
So you press a button, then 'edit'.
Now you can see Control, Display Type, Low Val, High Val etc.
Now press the arrow up (left of LCD)
Here you can set button Type.
Normal, Momentary, Toggle, Step.
Choose Step and then select a Step Value (as you're dealing in CC, you may need to divide 0-127 into equal steps).
The other button types are:
Normal - just outputs low when you press.
Momentary - outputs low on press and high on release
Toggle - outputs low on first press and high on next press.

I'd love to get my hands on it too. I'm looking at buying zebra and my remote 61 SL just showed up!
