Mu.Lab comes very close to the simplicity I've been looking for. My one wish is for a preview window to audition audio samples before adding them to my project (ala ACID).
Thanx for a great program.

MU.LAB is previewing samples from the file browser:
When you click the file name, the sample plays one-shot AND it is active on your MIDI keyboard so you can instantly play some notes with the preview

Please accept my apologies. I've had Mu.Lab for quite a while, but while looking at all the commercial alternatives, I haven't given it he attention it deserves. I just hooked up my midi keyboard yhis morning and spent half an hour trying to figure out why I had no sound. I'm very impressed with how well all my vst instruments (IKMultimedia, Native instauments, etc.) work in Mu.Lab.
Again, keep up the fine work.

Hello, first exuse me, that i'm writing in someone else thread, second - thanks for the nice software, and third - one request for me - it will be good, if we have numbers on the master output track(maybe on other tracks too), i like to control output level in dB..and some RMS-level-meter will be ok too..Thanks and cheers!

And what was the reason, if i may be so curious?Peter-T wrote:I just hooked up my midi keyboard yhis morning and spent half an hour trying to figure out why I had no sound.

Ok, added some note on the whishlist regarding the dB display.scum wrote:Hello, first exuse me, that i'm writing in someone else thread, second - thanks for the nice software, and third - one request for me - it will be good, if we have numbers on the master output track(maybe on other tracks too), i like to control output level in dB..and some RMS-level-meter will be ok too..Thanks and cheers!
Isn't the level meter doing ok?
For now, i think there are nice plugins doing that too.
Maybe someone else can make more specific suggestions...

New to this gem,
I have 2 minor wishes:
1)Panning by dragging in the Sequencer(really quick in composing and free scrolling while playing)
2)Grid to 128th(rare, but it happens).
The MUX is a monster. I am a Reason user(combinator) and this MUX is a touch of class.
Bravo.

Not sure what you mean; Can you please elaborate on this.liquidsound wrote:New to this gem,

Is there a real practical difference between a 1/128th grid and no grid?Grid to 128th(rare, but it happens).

1)Panning by dragging in the Sequencer is the same that's implemented in Energy-XT2 when you open a Part as a floating window and clicking and by dragging with the RMB you can Pan around even while is playing allowing an "all direction" navigation much faster than any other way.mutools wrote:Not sure what you mean; Can you please elaborate on this.liquidsound wrote:New to this gem,

For the 128th I understand you, it is almost in the limbo grid but it is nice to be able to have those subtle pinch for guitar, bass and synth velocity attacks for the following note. I use them in XT and Podium. But you're mostly right: hell with the grid , it is not a must on this one.
I am also beginning to see the power and semplicity of your mixing system. Neat!
Thank you for your quick replay. It's refreshing in this DAW business.

Ah, with panning you mean scrolling, right?liquidsound wrote: 1)Panning by dragging in the Sequencer is the same that's implemented in Energy-XT2 when you open a Part as a floating window and clicking and by dragging with the RMB you can Pan around even while is playing allowing an "all direction" navigation much faster than any other way.
Sorry, didn't understand at first.
Yes, would really like to add such functionality in a next version.
But it won't be with the RMB as that is linked to popping up context menus.
I think the MMB is the best option.
Currently the MMB is used to switch tools, so must think it all over.
Anyway, such instant multi-directional scrolling/zooming indeed is very fast, and that's something we definitely want.

Sorry, my fault.
In my profession, CAD designer, we use the word PAN to navigate around, and in music is ... actually Left/Right movement of the sound.
RMB is great too.
The way you handle this forum invites loyalty from people.
Thank you.

Just to make sure we're on the same track: You meant "MMB", right?liquidsound wrote:RMB is great too

On a second note: I know this issue is not a critical one but if we pay attention to the work flow inside the sequencer most of the intense actions are during composing or massaging the note events, and since we are using one hand on the mouse and the other hand on the "Ctrl" and "Alt" key it makes more sense to use a "Ctrl+MRB" (or Alt+MRB) combination for "Free Scrolling (Pan Drag) rather than the MMB because we use mostly Left and Right actions = No-Thinking.mutools wrote:Just to make sure we're on the same track: You meant "MMB", right?liquidsound wrote:RMB is great too
We program our mouse actions for CAD in house programs and this flow has proven very natural and effective (we use also Shift/MRB but in your case "Ctrl" is already engaged).
Or maybe in the Program Preferences one could choose MRB = Free scroll and Ctrl+MRB = popping up context menus, or vice verse.
In Energy-XT the MRB is used on "popping up context menus" when it's still and for "Free Srolling" when in movement. Kind of Win-Win situation.
Thank you
(just a thought)

That's an interesting way.liquidsound wrote:In Energy-XT the MRB is used on "popping up context menus" when it's still and for "Free Srolling" when in movement. Kind of Win-Win situation.
And it matches some other future MU.LAB evolutions which were already planned.
