Has anyone else experienced this problem?:

Step 1: Launch Receptor Tools
Step 2: Click Direct Install
Step 3: Select NI Komplete 5
Step 4: Insert NI Komplete 5 DVD Installation disk
Step 6: Click Begin Installation on Direct Install window
Step 7: Wait forever at the "Running Installer..." screen

Here's the text in the details section of the dialog box:

07:22:21: ********************
07:22:21: Date: Tue Sep 09 07:22:21 2008
07:22:21: Installer: x:\Komplete 5 Setup.exe
07:22:21: Installer Data: c:\windows\Temp\installerdata.xml
07:22:21: Share:
07:22:22: Running: "/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/Temp/ins3a28.tmp" "/root/.wine/dosdevices/x:/Komplete 5 Setup.exe" >> "/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Reports/Installation Log.txt" 2>&1

My Receptor is running the latest version of 1.7. My MacBook Pro is running the latest version of Receptor Tools. I'm connected via Auto DHCP to a Gigabit Switch.

The first time I tried Direct Install (during Beta testing) everything worked fine. I installed all the Komplete 5 apps that I wanted to. No problems.

The second time I tried: No problems. I installed a portion of the Kontakt 3 library.

This time I wanted to move more sample libraries over and some Receptor patches. No luck. I've got a ticket open on Plugorama's help desk and they're working with me, but it's taking a bit. Thought I would poll the broader knowledge base to see if anyone else has encountered this issue and had it resolved.

Waiting to 'Future Proof' my Receptor, :?

Just wanted to follow up on my own post. The guys at Muse have been working on this and they called me. Yes, they called me. Good customer support.

Anyway. They think my particular problem may be related to some recent Apple Security Updates on the OS. I can believe that. Just recently I had to reverse and AirPort Update because it wreaked havoc on Firewire audio. All my DAW apps were clicking and popping whenever the Airport was on. Once I undid the AirPort update, things went back to normal.

The Muse guys said they're working on resolving that, but in the meantime, they had me ship my Receptor to them and they're going to handle all the K5 installation stuff that I need. Just wanted to let you all know that they are good guys and want to make things work right.

Hey OD,

I had the same problem with my Mac and Direct install. However, I just borrowed a PC laptop to try and install Komplete 5 with it, and I ran into this details message at the same point in the process:

18:35:53: ********************
18:35:53: Date: Thu Sep 25 18:35:53 2008
18:35:53: Installer: x:\Komplete 5 Setup.exe
18:35:53: Installer Data: c:\windows\Temp\installerdata.xml
18:35:53: Share:
18:35:53: Running: "/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/Temp/ins85f2.tmp" "/root/.wine/dosdevices/x:/Komplete 5 Setup.exe" >> "/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Reports/Installation Log.txt" 2>&1
18:35:55: Error: Installation failed: unable to start '"/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/Temp/ins85f2.tmp" "/root/.wine/dosdevices/x:/Komplete 5 Setup.exe" >> "/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Reports/Installation Log.txt" 2>&1 >> "/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Reports/Installation Log.txt" 2>&1' (output: 'died within two seconds')
18:35:55: Installer failed

Unfortunately, I can't send my muse up to San Fran, because I need it all this week, and then have to tour with it. Have you received your muse back with everything installed?

I had the identical direct install problem with my MacBook Pro, trying to install Kontakt 3. Stopped in the same place. The guys at Muse were extremely helpful; it ultimately came down to installing it manually, which has worked out well. In the process of getting K3 installed, it sure seemed to me that the problem was probably on the Mac side, not on the Receptor side. K3 is running great on my Receptor, though I must say I haven't done anything very demanding with it.
