I use KONTAKT 3 and a Yamaha MOTIF ES for my Midi instruments which I record with SONAR and an Edirol FA-66 interface. I use many samples that I had previously bought for old Samplers (Kurzweil and Ensoniq). KONTAKT reads them beautifully without having to use imperfect translator software to unlock these instruments from their dedicated formatting. So I use KONTAKT for over 50% of my instruments. I have 3 GB of RAM, which I thought might handle the load. However I can feel a definite drag on the CPU when using so many KONTAKT samples, and some odd things happen where they don't when I play the MOTIF instruments.
I read about Receptor Pro Jr. which appears to address my concern directly. It has its own 400 GB hard drive, it acts as an "accelerator", it connects to the DAW via the newest Ethernet connectivity, and it says it can run 16 simultaneous audio sources at a time. All this and it has great effects processing, too, although that wouldn't apply to my Motif samples. I also see The Receptor, but this machine look 10 times cooler. Does anyone know anything about this thing that sounds too good to be true, although it costs a King's ransom ($2400).
Also,it would seem wise to get the much more powerful Pro Jr. than the bundled Receptor versions which aren't as powerful as the Junior, but come loaded with thousands of samples I wouldn't ever use.
Receptor Pro Jr looks better than bundled Receptor versions.

Hi there, Mica Of Boca,
There's a specialised Receptor forum here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=45
Better ask your question again there... It's where all the knowledeagable Receptor people hang out
