Anyone here who got Omnisphere?

Will be doing MIDI guitar tests this weekend.
Lots of layers to work with.
Definitely CPU hungry, so I will be testing it at full-bore along with Superior2 in Samplitude as well.

You may want to check out OmniTalk; http://omnitalk.lightbb.com/

They won't delete omni posts as easily there and point you to 50 page booklets that few bothers to wade through anyway.

Casar, thanks for mentioning Omnitalk, but I disagree with your characterization of KVR mods as deleting omni posts easily.

Can't speak for other mods, but the only Omnisphere threads I recall having deleted were a sudden flood of "joke" threads -- ones meant to mock the previous flood of actual Omnisphere threads, with no actual Omni-related content. One or two serious threads degenerated into full-fledged flamewars, IIRC, and got locked when it became clear they were unsalvageable; that problem seems to have receded.

When one person has posted multiple threads within a short time, each about a particular little aspect of Omnisphere, the influx of trivial threads all but forcing all non-Omni topics off the Instruments forum's first page, I've locked a few of the most spam-like threads and requested the posters to consolidate the discussion in existing threads. I believe this is for the benefit of all Instrument forum users, who are not disenfranchised by the rapidity of the forum's scroll, and it specifically helps Omni customers by keeping the info they want collected in fewer places.

I'm still recommending that the discussion be focussed whenever possible, though I have no objection to the creation of new threads concerning Omni-related topics that are significant enough to warrant (IMO) a whole thread to themselves.

It's the same as with any other subject, posters should be considerate and search the forum for similar topics before posting a new thread.

*salute* Keep at it, and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of your synth. Great-sounding piece of gear; though it's not on my shopping list I do admire it.

[edit] It could well be that you'll find some forums that prefer users post new threads for each bit of subject matter -- typically those forums that insist that discussions must remain more or less strictly on topic, frequently forums with few members and a low posting rate. It's all up to the users, admins, and mods what a given forum's culture will be like.

At a forum as huge as KVR it makes sense to avoid threads proliferating needlessly. End of my opinion, end of digression (beg pardon).

So has the actual patch count gone up to more reasonable levels considering the price? I know- there are thousands of "sources" that you can make your own sounds with- but for thoose of us who just need wizbang sounds that we can play with while we can get a few minutes to play away from the family- we like presets. I don't have time to create new sounds (but also don't want to wade through crummy patches either). I see other $300+ vsti's come with 2000 or more patches is Omni there yet?

Sure, you call your shots. A guy posted a link to his omni music site and was pulled, that's why I made the point. It is much more likely that his singular post would attract more attention, than a discreet post in a 50 page book.

That's why specialized forums are a beneficial alternative.
KVR is great as general overview into the VST field but isn't optimal for in-depth coverage in some cases. If there's a 60 page booklet going on, I just won't bother with it because of the obvious lack of oversight and sifting through it is time consuming.

Surely your personal evaluation of what warrants a new thread or not may be entirely unknown by the occasional visitor, as his points of reference are different than yours, since you probably have read most of it. Some haven't.

Ah, now I see what you meant about the fifty-page book. Point taken. In times of less Omnicraze it wouldn't have been an issue, and I expect things are returning to the pre-frenzy situation, or have already done; in other words, I don't think it'll be necessary to keep shepherding Omnisphere threads much from here out. Hope not.
