Anyone here who got Omnisphere?

Well, quantity does not equal quality, but Omnisphere has a ton of great patches. They range from bread and butter synth sounds (could maybe be your only VA) to the ever morphing nightmare train running over a cello type tones that it's so good at.

How many patches? No idea, but more than you could ever use and all seem to have some merits.

So has the actual patch count gone up to more reasonable levels considering the price? I know- there are thousands of "sources" that you can make your own sounds with- but for thoose of us who just need wizbang sounds that we can play with while we can get a few minutes to play away from the family- we like presets. I don't have time to create new sounds (but also don't want to wade through crummy patches either). I see other $300+ vsti's come with 2000 or more patches is Omni there yet?

After the first update (and before the Atmosphere update) the total number of Patches (which does not include a great deal of multis or the thousands of sound sources) was just under 700. I have not counted since all the Atmosphere patches were added, but if my memory of the original Atmosphere serves correctly, you can tack on roughly another thousand patches to the previous count.

So likely somewhere between 1500 and 2000 patches, but I haven't had opportunity to coutn since the more recent updates.

Agreed - Omni's patches are varied and plentiful, over 1500. As for creating presets - well, remember that it can be as simple as tying together two separate soundsources and adding a little delay/verb.

The patch browser is well designed, and sounds range from ambient drones to smooth pads, to biting analog samples [some of the Juno and Oberheim based patches are awesome] and crunchy drum its. I'm really taken with the doubletracked guitars and the lap steel patches, too. Only played with it a short while yet, but all patches are very well done [you'd expect nothing less..]

Can't wait for the KVR userbase to start digging up some new patches and sharing them with us..

I am reusing this old post as I know lots of people feel sick with too many Omnisphere posts Anyway not sure if people have seen but this months Sound on Sound and also Computer Music magazine both give Omnisphere top marks and say it is a 'must buy'!. That is good enough for me - time to try to find £300!
