title says it all but in more details the story goes like this:
playing back just 18 wav files (44.1K , 24 bit) T3 shows significantly higher CPU load when using 4 cores instead of 2 in the settings page.
The "higher CPU load" shows in both Tracktion's CPU meter and task manager.
'latest' (:hihi:) T3, PC, XP-pro SP2, no net/antivirus/firewalls etc, quad6600, 4GB RAM, OS and wavs in separate SATA HDs.
Any ideas or it's just that something's wrong with T3's multicore support for more than 2 cores?
T3+quad: 18 44.1K 24bit wavs=> 4cores<2cores ?

Yeah, that's a common bug at the moment - T3 supports 2 cores fine but more and it doesn't work so great. If you do a search for "quad" through this forum you'll probably find a few threads discussing it-

thanx meta,
I knew that something is wrong but I wasn't 100% sure. You see, there are cases where 4 cores perform better than 2. In fact that was always the case with every project I did on T3. On the other hand, the included demos seemed to prefer the 2 cores setting. This is the first case I try something and I see this huge handicap of the 4 cores setting
It's a bit sad cause multicore support was the selling point for me regarding T3. I could happily live with T2 but I wanted to take advantage of my quad
Good thing is that even with 2 cores I have plenty of CPU power to spend (hey, they clock happily @3.2GHz after all
