I can't make sense out of Schwa's comment, but which parameter are you trying to automate? - Not all parameters are reported to the host (because too many hosts don't like having to deal with too many of them), hence some parameters are "invisible".

In any case, if the XY controls can be automated in Reaper, you can automate any parameter that has a knob. Because any parameter that has a knob can be controlled by XY controls.

I was only trying to do automation with the cutoff on vcf1. But it seems that all of the knobs have a problem reporting their positions. Reaper doesn't recognize I've moved the knob until after I've released the mouse button. So the envelope patterns recorded look choppy instead of fluid & curvy.

Interesting. I posted in their forum in hope of an explanation. I have never heard of any alternative way to report parameter automation, so maybe their reply will be enlightening if I have indeed missed out on anything...

As a potential workaround, have you tried assigning a real midi knob to the knob you want to automate and then record the CC stream in REAPER? I'm wondering if that works.

Not sure, I don't own any midi equipment with knobs yet, but lately I've been thinking about buying an Akai MPD32. Sorry.

It doesn't have to be a midi knob. If you have any small keyboard with a modwheel that will work too.

Does the mouse or mouse driver have a problem? I had a optical mouse go bad on me once and it was always jittering around.

Not as a workaround but for testing the CC you can always use one of the many JS midi plugins to generate the CC you want to control Zebra with.

I loaded up Reaper 2.5.1 & Zebra 2.2.1b8. I was able to record fluid CC automation when assigning a midi knob to filter cutoff. I think the problem lies somewhere in the mouse click/release & movement event code in reaper.

Maybe the Akai MPD32's purchase might move up a bit with this info?
