Hi all,
I am deployed overseas, and I had installed Komplete 5 on my laptop before heading over in case I had some spare time (thought I'd learn the synths and stuff). Well, turns out there is a keyboard here, so I had my friend ship my Receptor to me. I have a Compaq Presario A900 laptop running Vista, Receptor Pro Jr. Komplete, Edirol UA-2 MIDI interface.
So, my questions :
1. I am connected via a crossover cable. Why is it that I have to reset my IP address EVERY time I startup(via the troubleshooting tab in the Receptor remote) to properly connect? I always wait until the laptop is fully powered up (as per the videos) to turn the Receptor on;
2. I have researched a bit on this forum about missing Patches; seems like the Receptor's patch management system is to blame (to emulate MIDI). I have read posts about some people with the IK edition having to manually add factory patches to the Receptor interface. Is this the same for Komplete? The version on my computer as a LOT more patches than the Receptor. Is there a quick fix available to have all my patches?
2.1 -> Any way to download just the new patches from NI instead of a full update? My Internet connection is VERY weak here;
3. I am currently using ASIO4ALL, which I know is not the best solution; however, when running the Receptor in Live via Uniwire, I can only get my lowest sample rate in the ASIO driver to about 160ms, which is double through Uniwire, producing significant latency. My question : would a proper audio interface solve this problem?
Many thanks to all!
JSB

1) You have a fixed IP address for both the Receptor and Laptop, correct? I have this setup myself, and it connects quickly.
2) I have accepted the concept that you must create a patch in the Receptor for every patch that you want to control (i.e. from the front panel, program change, etc). Its basically the same concept when you save a loaded vst in your DAW; the host just does this internally. When Kontakt is running as a stand alone, can you just send a program change and have it load the correct instrument? Something has to make that connection between the two.
3) I have an EMU 0404, and I get 2ms latency. However, I was just experimenting with UniWire over the weekend, and the best latency I can get with Receptor is 8ms (48khz), and the Receptor automatically calculates its own internal buffer (I think it was 96). So the lowest latency is different for my computer hardware when using Uniwire (i.e. 4 ms).
Using 'Midi only' obviously provided better response if I just wanted to trigger sounds from my controller.

Regarding question 1, the Receptor has an option for "Crossover Cable" which sets the Receptor to send out an IP address to a DHCP enabled computer. This saves you having to set the IP addresses manually on you computer.. Unfortunately this seems to reset itself when you switch the Receptor off. I have also noticed that if you change the global tempo clock setting to external that is also reset to internal after a power cycle. Is this a bug?
