someone must hear a difference between different compressors considering some units sell for 20k and others for 50 bucks.daExpert wrote:The differences between compressors is so subtle that i can't really get excited about yet another compressor. Sound proofing your room, or getting a good mic, or good mic preamp, and using better sounds to begin with has about 100x more importance in my book than compression or eq. But that's just me.
I do hope sampletank 3 comes out some day. With easier loading of samples, easier way to map existing samples, better preset sounds with more dynamics. To me, sampletank has an advantage over hardware sound modules because in sampletank, each sound can have it's own output to mix in your host, but with sound modules, they usually only have one or two audio outputs, in which i have to force 16 sounds through, in a multi-timbral arrangement.

WOW!!!!! I absolutely cannot wait to get this! I've been a loyal T-Racks owner for YEARS and it has been my #1 tool for mixing/mastering. Lately I was thinking about picking up a new compressor to give me more tone options and more of a vintage feel, but didn't know what to go with. Well... now I do
So, what's the price like to upgrade from the original T-Racks?

Dude, don't pat yourself on the back yet. 33 other persons guessed TRacks. Mine was "investigating, I'm thinking' the original TRacks24 came on in 2000 as a stand alone, then the plug-in was around 2001 with enhancements....." So maybe I should pat myself on the back tooFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Not only did I call it being T-Racks, I was also right that Squids was alluding to a Fairchild emulation. Now if that doesn't deserve a gratis copy I don't know what does.![]()
Is there a demo MP3 of the Fairchild on a drum bus out there?
and get one gratis as well
But seriously if you went to IK's site and watched the video, they gave you the answer right there, it was so easy..
I got get this... the price alone is worth it when you think about taking it to a mastering lab.. It'll pay for itself the first time...Oh no another nightmare for the mastering guys

Well I don't think the $20,000 compressor sounds 400x better than the $50 compressor, especially to the average listener. But for the super-duper pros out there who have cash to burn, a 20 grand compressor sounds about right.ATS wrote:someone must hear a difference between different compressors considering some units sell for 20k and others for 50 bucks.
To my ears, the difference between compressors is very subtle, no matter the price. Where-as the difference between a cad m9 mic and radio shack mic is tremendous. ymmv.

What about upgrade prices to registered customers?
And what is the difference between the Deluxe and Normal Edition?

No need for me to get the Standard version then. I'm fairly happy with what I have.
Question remains what the upgrade prices from T-Racks VST (aka the "full version") to T-3 Normal and T-3 Deluxe will be. Getting these tools new is a bit steep.
And is the new comp really a Fairchild 670 one (Q goes out to the devs)? Cause if so, I gotta revive an old thread of mine.

as far as I can tell though even the standard modules have been improved, its not just the GUI..Compyfox wrote:No need for me to get the Standard version then. I'm fairly happy with what I have.

Does IK ever offer upgrades? I'm only aware of them ever doing crossgrades (at least in recent history). I wish they'd do something other than the damn crossgrades though. I own a lot of their stuff and get the same deals that the guy who just owns Sampletank LE gets.Compyfox wrote:Question remains what the upgrade prices from T-Racks VST (aka the "full version") to T-3 Normal and T-3 Deluxe will be. Same here. Why do I have to pay the full price again, if I don't go any cross-path but direct in terms of upgrading?
I'd be cool with a 99USD for 149USD (best if VAT included) upgrade price. But I pay the old plugins, and the new plugins "again" - as if I buy them new. Where is the benefit? For this I can get Waves bundles and/or a complete URS set!
Not a cheapstake here. But what if there's ARC2? Will I need to pay for it "again" with like only 10% off the full price? Heck even an upgrade from Cubase SX3 to C4 costs me only 150Euro compared to 600bucks or so (or like 400-500 if I go for a "crossgrade discount"). As good as IKM may be, and as good as the deals might be from time to time - it's definitely not cheap or fair towards supportive customers IMHO.
EDIT:
A feature Q though:
The Meter for the "plugin version" (is it like the old T-Racks all-in-one andthe plugs still seperately?, is it K-System calibrated or can I calibrate it how I want it to? If not, a useless feature IMO.

T-RackS, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated plug ins out there. I consider it my secret sauce. There's a LOT of character in it - I use it to color the music and it exceeds my hopes almost every time.
Here are my questions:
1. Is there a different price for a CROSSgrade and a different price for an UPgrade price for T-RackS owners?
2. Will I be able to use T-RackS v2 alongside T-RackS 3 Deluxe to keep my projects sounding exactly the same?
Thanks - you guys write great software and run a great company

I'm happy about the sidechain, that most likely seals it for me.
Will the cross grade reduce in price, since it seems that is the MSRP?
