Is Tracktion now an orphan?

I have never heard of Phrazor and I searched for Muzys and it looks like it became Mu tools?
The reason I asked was it seems like no host have ever just *poof* vanished. Why would T3 do that especially when it is back by a very large company.

Why did Gigasampler go 'poof' even though it was backed by a very large (hardware!) company?

Technically it was both.warbug wrote:Was that a Host or an instrument?
Regarding Muzys, no - Mu Tools is an entirely different programme with a very different paradigm. The strength of Muzys was in the MIDI area. It vanished overnight.
More often of course Hosts get *bought* rather than discontinued (see: Emagic Logic, Sonic Foundary Acid, Syntrillium Cool Edit, Steinberg/Yamaha, Cakewalk/Roland, Tracktion/Mackie...)
We're talking about a fairly new industry in real terms though. Mackie are not obliged to continue Tracktion development for evermore if it doesn't sell, whatever other companies do: I think your logic is misplaced

Why do you even bother here? Seems like you have a couple thousand dollars invested in other hosts that work for you.Gabriel_S wrote:
Hi A, I've read this analogy more than once and in some cases it is indeed true. But if this was the case I would be having the same issues with Sonar, Cubase, Reason, Acid Pro and Reaper wouldn't I??

Hey, rockstar_not, that's a great point you make - obviously if you've got more than one of anything you're not really entitled to comment about either of them!

Funny, there's an awful lot less sympathy towards aggrieved posters here than in that Crysonic thread. It's a shame really that Mackie aren't getting more of a hiding for this.

I guess I should have made myself more clear - what is it about Tracktion that causes Gabriel to rant here if there are so many other hosts that work. He must like it for some reason, otherwise why bother?mrcleats wrote:Hey, rockstar_not, that's a great point you make - obviously if you've got more than one of anything you're not really entitled to comment about either of them!
Me, I love T2. I've been too nervous to upgrade to T3 since I'm not so sure it would be an upgrade
I'm still upset that T2 didn't have proper time-stretch, what with it being advertised as capable and what not.
I think the Mac folks who bought T3 have been screwed. Mackie needs to offer up a refund to any of them who want it. Lose the license of course, but in good faith should make the offer.

the word around the campfire is that phrazor turned into kore. holger was bought by NI (more or less) - that's the rumor.warbug wrote:I have never heard of Phrazor and I searched for Muzys and it looks like it became Mu tools?

Yep, but Holger still has a huge amount of enhancements to add in KORE before it is as good as Phrazor - have both (and T3), and Phrazor is still a better workflow for me.grymmjack wrote:the word around the campfire is that phrazor turned into kore. holger was bought by NI (more or less) - that's the rumor.warbug wrote:I have never heard of Phrazor and I searched for Muzys and it looks like it became Mu tools?

What I like about Tracktion is it is the closest thing (I've seen) to being a generic DAW that is really intuitive. I don't want lots of features. I want ease of use and stability. Its got the ease of use but not the stability (I'm on a Mac...).
Basically, I want a host that is like TeX or LaTeX for text. LaTeX is a free open source program that lays out text beautifully, maybe *perfectly*, but doesn't get in the way of writing the content. Apparently, it is so stable, they haven't found a bug in it for years and years. For details go to: http://www.latex-project.org/intro.html
We need the same thing for music. Something that record a lot of tracks, has volume levels, panning, busses, an EASY in/out interface. I don't want loops, ReWire support, midi, nothing fancy. A four track (except it has unlimited tracks).
Geez, maybe I just need Garageband....

Well if you've really been following my posts on this matter which obviously you haven't, I've stated NUMEROUS times that I loved (past tense) T3. I loved the interface and I think T3 is an ingenious concept. But I guess you missed those parts. I continue to check back here in hopes that Mackie will magically fix the problems that plague 90% of it's user base. BTW, I paid out good money for this broken piece of crap that I'm slowly starting to dread to even open up. I have every right to complain about it, like it or not.rockstar_not wrote:I guess I should have made myself more clear - what is it about Tracktion that causes Gabriel to rant here if there are so many other hosts that work. With all that said, I will let this matter die a peaceful death. I have one more song to struggle through with and then I'm done with it.
For those that keep using it, I really do wish all of you the best of luck. Maybe Jules will take it over again or some other company will snatch it up and make it into what we have all expected from this product !!

Considering I'm on PC and we are probably a vast majority there's no luck to hope. It just works perfectly here. Sorry to tell, again. For those that keep using it, I really do wish all of you the best of luck.

Yeah, perfectly. Try to copy and paste some collection clips and then come back and talk about perfect.oxbee wrote:Considering I'm on PC and we are probably a vast majority there's no luck to hope.
