Preview volume2008-10-26T22:18:09+00:00I keep meaning to ask this - I think we need adjustable Sample Preview Volume in MULAB because the current default is decidedly too loud (for my liking). I nearly blew my speakers/headphones on a number of occasions previewing a normalised sample when the volume of the tune I was working on was just right for composing.
Anyone else?

An individual instrument in a mix is unlikely to be playing at 0dB consistently (if at all), as that's likely to cause the overall mix to clip or require hard (!) compression. So, if you're auditioning a sample as a potential replacement, you'll be comparing with what's there now - possibly 12dB or so quieter than the normalised sample... It's more a problem with the sample bypassing the mix, than the mix being too quiet, really.
Maybe have a "preview pad" that lets you pick the volume depending on where it's clicked?
I agree - samples are always going to be that extra bit louder than anything you're working on (if that's what you mean?). Preview pad sounds nifty but not very easy to implement..
Maybe we should be able to choose which rack previews go o so we can just pull down the fader and save the arrangement into the default tune?
For now, I've made it a habit to just turn the stereo down when previewing.
