My learning principle is: from simple to complex
First to start with is the use of insert en send effects ( as in the demo project) and automation of a echounit

Than the use of pre or post fader output.
The idea of using some multi effects and creating more complex sounds

I don't see the practical use of the MPA yet ?

If you're rather beginning to learn all this, please focus on using Racks.

You can do a lot with Racks!

The MPA only becomes interesting where Racks are not sufficient to answer more complex routing needs.

Modular isn't for everyone. It took me long to even grasp the concept and even now I'm rather a rack/mixing desk person.

Just play around with MUX a little. Move those wobbly blue cables and get a feel for when they snap to a plug. It's not like your computer explodes when you make a mistake. ;) In time you'll see how powerful MUX is.

poeple do all kinds of things with effect chains - you can have a compressor, followed by a reverb , followed by another compressor, you could have a delay and a chorus, or a chorus and then a delay, then send it to another rack, or you could have no effects at all.
There are no hard and fast rules and I recommend you simply use it a little and see what happens.

If you're looking for specific advice, look no further than the Production Techniques forum here at KvR.
