it works! with current beta, midi learned controllers stick!

thanks urs, for your very friendly and patient support!

actually, there wasn't just one zebra on my computer, there was a whole herd of em horses that somehow had managed to sneak in. the zookeepers must have been smoking too much, lazy bast...s.

- i really like that midi learn is global. the patch dependend xy assignments provide enough flexible assignments for my needs.

- channel awareness for controllers and notes would be grrreat...

i am off to buy this animal.

cheers

Just thought I would jump on this thread, this may seem like a simple question, so forgive me!

I'm going to be running Zebra in Pro Tools and was wondering if I'll be able to use a device like a Faderfox to control Zebra using midi learn? One thing that draws me to the Faderfox, apart from size, is the joystick (can this be assigned to the XY controls in Zebra?)

Cheers.

Hi 418,

I'm not a ProTools expert (hence it took so long to do RTAS  ), but afaik MidiLearn works as expected. It should be possible to assign the joystick if it sends plain Midi Control Changes (the actual midi learn part using a joystick or touchpad is sometimes tricky, one might have to learn the CCs from a knob first, I can explore a bit more if desired)

Later,

;) Urs

Hey Urs, Thanks for the reply.

I made a decision to stick with Pro Tools a while back, helped somewhat by you developing an RTAS version of Zebra, many thanks for that! (I have a feeling i'm going to have so much fun with Zebra & Pro Tools 8).

So yeah, I'm looking at midi controllers with joysticks at the moment, so any info is great.

Cheers!
