i have three questions im hopeing to get a response to. 1)does anyone know where i can get a really good deal on receptor, like around 1,300 or so? 2) has anyone used the "guitar rig" plugin on the STANDARD receptor? im wondering if the standard specs can handle that kind of thing without purchasing extra memery right off the bat.3)can someone give me a testimonial or two just to help me with my decision of purchasing this product? i want to know its worth it.thx

1) there is one on eBay right now for the money you're looking to spend.
2) upgrade to 2Gb as soon as you've got your Receptor. It will thank you for it.

I gig with mine and love it. It awlays brings a response from the audience or bandmates.
A standard Receptor with say 160 gig HD and 256meg memory will work just fine if you are not going into the sample world. I do agree with KJ that upgrading to 2 gig is a no brainer though, based on the price of memory.
It is my favorite instrument, and believe me, I have owned more synths than most.

Hy, everyone.
In order for not creating a new topic, I'd like to ask my "few questions" here… I hope you'd be so kind to reply me.
I've heard about Receptor three years ago, but I have no money for it. Now, there is one good (i.e. cheap) proposal, but this model is really old version and has 40 Gb of hard drive and 256 Mb of RAM. So my questions are:
1. How easily can I upgrade RAM of this device (do I can use standard PC RAM card, or do I have to buy a specific (not standard) expansion card)?
2. How easily can I upgrade my hard disk (similar, is it a standard or a specific hardware unit)?
Thanks a lot

OK, additional research on Plugorama gave me an answer for my first question:"Receptor uses standard, off-the-shelf DIMM RAM PC memory" (http://www.plugorama.com/customer/produ ... ductid=494 (http://www.plugorama.com/customer/product.php?productid=494) )
But it's still unclear about the hard drive. I'd be very grateful for your consultation (I'm from Ukraine and shipping costs for original "factory" hard drive would increase its price twofold… so it's very important for me to discover, whether I can install a standard off-the-shelf PC hard drive).
Thanks

Yes, I think you will have to clone your existing hard drive and transfer it to your new hard drive as it has all the OS etc. I don't suppose fitting the hard drive is nay harder than doing it with your desktop PC, it's the whole ghost cloning of your existing drive and transfer that maybe the tricky part. If it went wrong I think your warranty would be voided should you have to send it back to Muse.
There are a lot of competant guys on here who like to mess around with their receptors hardware and software, maybe they can chime in!
