The manual (english) says "see MIDI learn" but does not have an entry for this function...

So anyway, I'd like to assign the XY controls to certain knobs on my kb. I right click on the corresponding knob in Zebra and choose "MIDI Learn." I turn the knob on the keyboard and the Zebra knob moves too.

Okay great. Now I want to go to the, say Y control and assign that knob...

So I go to the corresponding knob in Zebra and choose "MIDI Learn" and turn a different knob on my keyboard.

Then to test I turn the first assigned knob. Hmmm.... The SECOND knob on Zebra is still turning.. It seems as though it is still learning...

How do you (or can you) have different knobs control different parameters? IN other words, how do you tell zebra "Okay, stop learning now, you're done. You've learned it."

I've tried everything I could think of...

By the way, the whole goal here is to record some automation in my daw as it plays. I don't suppose there's an easy way to figure out what MIDI controller I've just assigned the X or Y function to is there? Cubase doesn't seem to tell me which knob is assinged to what so I can choose it from the automation list.

Thanks for any clues you can throw me.

Can you not right click on the same knob and select 'MIDI learn' again - the few plugins I've done this with require you to MIDI learn again to stop the learning ;)

Good luck mate

Nope, that's the convention I'm familiar with as well... And the other choice is "MIDI Unlearn" or something like that. It does what you'd expect it to.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is... are you trying to assign the same MidiCC to multiple knobs? - This does not yet work in Zebra...

Hey Urs,

So let's say I have two different knobs on my hardware controller and I want to assign "X" to the left knob, and "Y" to the right knob.

I select "MIDI Learn" to the virtual knob controlling "X" and wiggle the left physical knob.... IT WORKS, YAY :D

Okay now I want to assign "Y" and the right knob.

I select "MIDI Learn" to the OTHER virtual knob controlling "Y" and wiggle the right physical knob.... YAY! I am teh engineer! :D

So now I wiggle the left knob to manipulate "X" again....

Hope this helps better describe my trouble. How do you make these controls stay put???

Are these two knobs by any chance sending the same MidiCC?

I mean, it shoudl definately work... two physical knobs can control two virtual parameters.

Yes, actually I recorded a track with just knob twiddling and both of these knobs control CC7 (volume). So I guess that means I need to choose knobs that send different MIDI CCs (or re-assign the ones I already used). Thanks, U.

Yes! Zebra needs different CCs for different knobs. It's not (yet) aware of different Midi Channels. Even though that's over due. It'll happen at some point.
