you should better post the .knob files instead of the rendered stuff ...ouroboros wrote:Well, I really should be sharing, but I can't compete with the realistic/vintage stuff: I just don't know it very wellI have benefited greatly from this community, so I'll upload some of my wacky.
I rehashed some LED's to something I really like - think they work well at a number of sizes
Red LED
Red LED Small
Blue LED
Blue LED Small
And some steampunk stuff I was toying with.
VUMeter
Marble Knobs (left is label=I did an ADSR series)
Reticle Knob -looks good on black (scalloped out)
the intension of this thread is to learn from other files, not to use them as is ...

At any rate, fantastic work, ouroboros! I look forward to studying your examples.

herw try this out and see if it works
try this out to start with (-10.00:10.001:0.01:%+.2f). Its all I can figure out. I cant seem to get the padding of '0' in. I never really played with this aspect of it much.
I had to make it 10.001 in order to display 10.00. I am sure I am missing something.

Hi Leslie, it is amazing how fast you learn. I must confess i haven't checked your recent free plugins, as they were gui-less, and i don't use any of them any more, but if at some point you plan to make a gui, it should really be worthy for some additionnal eye-candy
cheers

Thanks, Leslie. The LEDs are based on Art60's but I did some tweaking, and I liked how it looked at the small resolutions. The VU's are bitmaps with a couple of added elements masking and the like, which make the whole process a lot easier for big detailed stuff. It allows me to edit static stuff in a photo editor and the animated things in knobman. There are much better actual artists in this thread already!Leslie Sanford wrote:You're both right.Kriminal wrote:if you bothered to check, they are the .knob filesbrok landers wrote:

the intension of this thread is to learn from other files, not to use them as is ...The Red LED and the VU Meter are both bitmaps. The rest are knob files. Having said that, I could have sworn they were all bitmaps when I first checked the links, but don't quote me on that.
At any rate, fantastic work, ouroboros! I look forward to studying your examples.
I have some more stuff to share as my developer days are over
(currently uploading a tiny knob pack and some vector looking stuff.)

Oh, I got it, sorry:
I screwed up the tag for the large Red LED, sorry. I have corrected it in the original post, though the subsequent quotes will still be wrong.
they are here and here, now.

Red Switch
Blue Switch
Loosely modeled after the switches on the Minimoog. Just some simple tricks with moving some rectangles around to simulate the switch changing positions. And a small triangle shadow to enhance the 3D effect.

Trying to model rackmount side handles. They look ok but kind of float above the surface.

I think to avoid the float, you either want the drop shadow to be elongated to meet the handles closer to the top, or alter the offset to do the same. One way to achieve it might be to have a layer that is 'hidden' under the visible handles, and use the drop shadow of thatLeslie Sanford wrote:

Thanks Duncan and WOK. I think getting those handles just right would require more work than I'd want to put into them.
Hey, did you know you can drop texture files into the Texture folder and use them in SkinMan?

I'll be dropping by some of those chessy free texture websites, the ones with a million pop-ups.
