an easier way would've been to just download the file, then simply change the extension from .png to .knob, forgot to tell you that, sorry ...Hlis93 wrote:Got it thanks. I didn't realize I could that.

I understand how you don't like to reduce the images after and don't want to toy with .pngs. It can be time consuming and for some very counter-intuitive to the creative process, for me it's a must with certain things.
1.What would be a tremendous advantage and reduce some of my dependencies on .pngs is to be ability to create my own gradients, as well as, having various ways of filtering that against the base fill for the shape.
2.It would also be a welcome feature for me if I could keep the beveling and gradients for the shape and remove the fill all together, this would make a world available in house that I, at this time, depend on pngs for.
I had mentioned these several months ago in the Knobman thread. These features are what I consider the big deficiencies in Knobman, with these features I wouldn't be going to Photoshop all that often to make pngs, it would be reserved for more specific & special things. As Brok mentioned in the Knobman thread the alpha layer needs to be improved it would solved many problems as well.

I was messing with this tonight in SkinMan:

It's based on Roland's Juno-G. I don't think I'll do any more. At some point it stops being fun and instructive and just becomes work. I like the way it was turning out, though.

This is what I was thinking about skinning my freebie delay effect with:

Too much wood?
I like the way the section seperators looked carved out of the wood. I would do the smaller labels the same way, but they'd become hard to read.
What I like about the overall look is that since it's almost entirely wood, it has the look of a homemade effect, something someone made in their garage out of parts they happen to have laying around and put them into a small wood box.

Mh, no, but woods calls iron, steel, not those plastic caps for the controls...Leslie Sanford wrote: Too much wood?

Good point. With the darker background, the knobs and buttons need to be lighter to stand out.Kriminal wrote:knobs need to be lighter to make them stand out from bkgd a bit more...

Same here. Shiny, especially chrome-shiny, is tough.Kriminal wrote:i would actually make them metallic looking, kinda shiny...if i had the skill
Here are two more versions. I've made the knobs in each section a different color to make them stand out and distinquish each section from the other. Dunno know if this is a good idea or bad, or if it's good, if my color choices are ok.

Flat Knobs

did you try out my png files. Chrome shinny metals should be very easy.Leslie Sanford wrote:Same here. Shiny, especially chrome-shiny, is tough.Kriminal wrote:i would actually make them metallic looking, kinda shiny...if i had the skill

Here's a new version using "blue45dark" from your collection to give the knobs a chrome look:
