Hexman, if you're sufficiently nerdy to install Python and us DOS commands, try my soundfont tools to build a layered soundfont mostly automatically.

You'd need to create a MIDI file that plays all the notes & velocities you want to sample, and record your synth. Then chop the result into one WAV file per velocity, using some naming convention for the layer files. Edit a simple control file (included as an example) to tell it the layer name portion of the layer files, and it chops the samples into wave files naming them according to MIDI note. Run another program and it builds an sfz file for previewing (automatically building the key map). Run a third program and it builds the soundfont.

Looping and parameter editing you need to do yourself, in a soundfont editor like Extreme Sample Converter.

Cheers

Thanks - I have python installed but am not very good at it. I tried the link but it doesnt work?

BTW - Has anyone tried mailing sonicfire (Dennis)? My emails keep getting blocked: The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'dennis@prodyon-virtual-gear.com'. Interesting program!

Im testing it with a Yamaha S90. The Midi Channel in the SampleMatic prog is -1 off from my Yamaha. IE if I select channel 1 on the SampleMatic, the Yamaha must be set to channel 2.

Also I get out of range error in samplematic if I select channel 16 - are you (or Yamaha) off a bit? (pun intended).

Was wondering when you might get the abiltiy to record from other than windows Wave Mapper? I have a Delta1010LT and it uses its own audio control pannel. Right now I cant record : Samplematic records only what you've select within the Windows Soundmixer "Recording"-settings. (via Wave Mapper)

This looks promising though - would love to be able to sample my old SY77 hardware and use it in DimensionPro (SFZ format). I like the simple approach vs Maz or the SampleRobot. I'll definitely purchase (actually I'll probably get your $50 deal) if I can get it to work with my MAudio Delta card - keep me up to date on the progress.

Sorry, typo -- that's "learjeff.net", not "learjeff.nt". I'll fix the link.

You don't have to be any good at Python, but you do have to run the programs from a "cmd" window. No GUI.
