Hi,

the thing I don't like of Sylenth's filter is that if you have they as LP filters fully opened they don't sound as if the filter would be bypassed.

For some trance leads automation, I'd like to increase the cutoff and allow that all the high frecuencies sounds.

Can I do something for change this "LP-Filter-Always-Cut-some-High-Freq-Even-with-max-Cutoff" behaviour?

Edit: Example, I was trying to LP Filter the preset LD Screamer from the first bank... if I do this it will sound ugly and dull :(

The reason the preset LD Screamer sounds different when you switch the filter from bypass to lowpass is because the resonance is set pretty high and the drive knob is fully opened. When the filter is bypassed, the drive and resonance are also bypassed.

If you want the filtered sound to be the same as without the filter, you can set the resonance and drive to 0 (actually you could add a little bit of drive to make it just as loud). Also note that the filters are controlled by 2 knobs, so if you want to fully open the filter you may need to adjust both cutoff knobs.

hi Lennar,

When I fully open a LP filter in Sylenth1 it sound pretty different that when I Bypass it. Do this:

1. Init a preset
2. Set Filter A Cutoff to max value
3. Play a note and swich between ByPass and LoPass filter, you'll get that LP Filter cut some high frecuencies with cutoff set to max value even:

Sure it will sound slightly different than without a filter, that's just normal behavior for an analog-style lowpass filter. At the cutoff frequency it will always have some attenuation.

It's pretty easy to avoid this though, you can either:

1. use a higher samplerate (the maximum filter cutoff frequency is half the samplerate),
2. use the EQ to add a bit extra treble to compensate for the attenuation at high frequencies, or
3. add a slight bit of resonance to compensate for the attenuation at the cutoff point.

your best bet for those kinds of manual slow filtersweeps used in "Tarnce" is to slap a filter plugin on as an effect so that the synth's filters can stick to making the sound itself.

I make trance music, I don't know what is tarnce :/

In euro and hard trance music I really need automate the synth's filters, the external filter aren't useful for me, although some times i use them :)
