BTW: We need to know how the beta is handling for non-SSE computers. To know if your computer is running EVE with SSE, open the About page, it will say the version and if it is SSE enabled or not. You don't need to download the complete file, just the update to test that.

NEW BETA UPDATE 20d

The Prev beta had a beta loop coding, this one has a better code. I'm still checking files, and I did find that the Sine waveform was poor made by me. Is very hard to loop a high-pitched waveform, but I deal with that somehow.

BTW: I just fixed the Pure-Sine waveform, it did had a problem on the upper ranges. I uploaded just the DASHsnd file ZIPED. Just replace this on the \EVE Data\Waveforms directory.

I'll have more time tonight to fiddle with 20d...but I played with her a bit and now I actually hear a loop tick in 8bit vocals starting from G5 that wasn't there before...There's something about G5 as OM12 softens at that point too...I'll check through the entire group through 20d after I get home unless anything else changes by then...

Ok, here we go again. :D

The new 'patches' of pads? Kill that loooooong attack. Who really sits with their hands on the keys for 4 whole measures to get the sound to bloom in? Just an opinion.

CP70B Soft - E5 it starts, through A5, at the end it pitches up? Very strange, not sure what to make of it. This still sounds slightly out of tune, but not hte fundamental tones, but some of the harmonic overtones. I'm guessing that's the instrument though.

Mellotron Strings A - C#2-A2, bad click at loop point. B3 clicks, C4 sounds 'weird' mainly becc aus eit's not a good loop point with the strong variation of the sound coming back to loop on.

Trident Strings B - C1 and lower, not a good loop point, not QUITE a click, but close.

Vintage Strings O3 - E#3 doesn't have a very nice loop, not click, not not smooth either.

Vox Continental C - Whoa, what is up with the A3-D4? Sounds like a REAL short loop that sounds bad to give a 'beating' sound.

60s E Organ - Suffers same fate as Vox. G3 and up, bad loop, gets a pusling click going that's very light.

Korg 770 2 Osc - At C2, it's really apparant, but a 'scrape' like sound that goes up into G2, and goes all the way down the keyboard.

Minimoog Saw - Jumps a whole octave from C3 to C3#, and has a nasty 'scrape' sound again.

Minimoog Triangle - click still there above C#4 in the loop point, this is a definate click of a bad loop point.

MS20 Pulse 50 - E2 and going on up, bad loop again.

MS20 Saw - C#4 and up, bad loop.

MS20 Triangle - C#4 and up, again, bad loop. Really, the MS20 problems sound like the cycle time on the uppers are slightly too short right at the loop point itself.

Pure Sine - Are we down a full octave here? Otherwise fine.

That's only 13 patches with problems. Getting there. :)

Ermmm, aren't Pads suposes to be with slow attack? ;) At least this is what I have seen for ages on keyboards as "Pads" :P

Anyway, we will check again all the isues posted, thanxs guys. I'm just a bit confused, since the code now is correct (DevonB, did you tried with the latest version 20d? Still hear that problems?) and I checked in dept all files... so I don't know where to look now. Luigi is also going to check all files so maybe he finds something.

20c and 20d shows no SSE here, so it works on my PC.

Still getting the big file :?

Slow ttacks? Yes, but not US postal devilery slow. ;) They're just slower than anything I've had before. I mean, it's not a problem, since it's so easy to just reach over to the attack slider and change it in a flash, but wonder if anyone else has any complains about it too? :)

Yes, I did get 20d as well. Also be nice to have another pair of ears and setup check them too via Luigi. :)

I just uploaded some new presets, in a FXB bank file (ziped). It has a few extra presets but that sounds pretty good.

I'll check out the new banks tonite. :D

Anything else you wanted us to try William? I'll triple check that I have 20d installed, but I remember installing an update last nite, but hey, I'll still check anyway.

For the momment the synth seem pretty much stable. Luigi should be checking loop points so I can work on more presets. Thanxs DevonB, Ford and Max, lately you guys did some great work on testing EVE further, we will sure remember you guys and be in debt. Expect some "prize" for this. ;)

William,

Think I figured out the problem with the patches. I think the installer was not updating the directory properly, putting at least me on a wild goose chase, partially. I figured this out when I got an error trying to load Jazz 2 organ, saying that samples were missing. So I completely uninstalled EVE, deleted the directory and all, reinstalled 20b full, then updated with 20d over it clean, and I notice I have a few more samples now, and the patch Jazz 2 loads fine.

So I would make the suggestion that the rest of us uninstall EVE completely, make sure the directory is GONE, and reinstall EVE from scratch.

Some of the previous problems have been fixed, but a lot of them that have noises. Some of them still do click. Let's revisit this again, pain in the butt as this may be.... ;)
CP70B Soft - E5 it starts, through A5, at the end it pitches up? Very strange, not sure what to make of it. This still sounds slightly out of tune, but not hte fundamental tones, but some of the harmonic overtones. I'm guessing that's the instrument though.

F4-A4 still pitches up.
Mellotron Strings A - C#2-A2, bad click at loop point. B3 clicks, C4 sounds 'weird' mainly becc aus eit's not a good loop point with the strong variation of the sound coming back to loop on.
Not as bad, still a little 'off' though for the loop.
Trident Strings B - C1 and lower, not a good loop point, not QUITE a click, but close.
B0-F1 still isn't a good place for a loop.
Vintage Strings O3 - E#3 doesn't have a very nice loop, not click, not not smooth either.
Err make that D#3. The tone of going from D# to E3 brightness is very distinct.
Vox Continental C - Whoa, what is up with the A3-D4? Sounds like a REAL short loop that sounds bad to give a 'beating' sound.
B3, weird beating sound still there.
60s E Organ - Suffers same fate as Vox. G3 and up, bad loop, gets a pusling click going that's very light.
No change.
Korg 770 2 Osc - At C2, it's really apparant, but a 'scrape' like sound that goes up into G2, and goes all the way down the keyboard.
Same.
Minimoog Saw - Jumps a whole octave from C3 to C3#, and has a nasty 'scrape' sound again.
Fixed.
Minimoog Triangle - click still there above C#4 in the loop point, this is a definate click of a bad loop point.
ALMOST fixed, just ever so slightly off above C#4.
MS20 Pulse 50 - E2 and going on up, bad loop again.
Same.
MS20 Saw - C#4 and up, bad loop.
For the most part fixed, but ever so slightly I hear a 'gurgle' sound.
MS20 Triangle - C#4 and up, again, bad loop. Really, the MS20 problems sound like the cycle time on the uppers are slightly too short right at the loop point itself.
Now it's G4 and up you get the 'pulsing'.

I did verify that I am in fact running 20d, so we're good there.

Patches -

EP-CP70 - C1 sounds like it's out of tune. Listen carefully to the soft beating. Still, CP70B still sounds out of tune to my ears.

Organ Multi Jazz 2 - Turn down the volume. I clip with 3 notes easily.

Solina Glider, likes to clip with 3 note chord in lower.

Pad Cosmic - release is a bit too long in my opinion. ;)

Splitted Personality - Not very good English ;) Split Personality would work though.

Synth Mini MS - with teh stack, in the upper ends, it sounds slightly out of tune with the 'beating' going on. C4 it's noticable. Instability of the oscillators of the Minimoog and Korg MS20?

Multi Epiano Strings Flt - Ah, easily my favorite. :) (note to self, must not ALWAYS be negative. ;) )

Now that I'm pulling up the drop down list in Cubase a lot to load patches, I notice on occasion the Off/Free glowing buttons under Rate, the VST doesn't update properly and I get the image that's half glowing, half off sometimes. :) It devides RIGHT where the box comes up, so for some reason the graphics aren't updating properly. :)

Whew! What an update! There ya go though! :)

Post

Devon, thank you for the help. Luigi and I will be looking out for all those problems.

That's strange, since we use Steinberg own VST-GUI Library. Could you tell me wich Cubase you are runing? Also, what is the color depth of your video-card? If you raise the color depth, does that fixes the problem? So we know where to look. ;)

And of course, when I try to do it purposefully, it won't do it again! I jsut noticed it happen like 3-4 times. I went throught he drop down list about 4 times in order, then pulled up random patches about 50-75 times to try to get it to do it, and it never did it. Like I said, it's rare. It's ALWAYS on Osc 3 2nd box over that screws up though. And I don't think I can turn my bit depth higher than 32 though. :) Glad I looked. I put it back down to 16. Matrox G450 LX card. Cubase SX 1.05.61. Windows XP.
