its weird with windsynth. i come from playing trumpet and then later i added sax and then added wx5/vl70m/laptop.
when i was first setting up my laptop to play live i tried a lot of things in adjusting latency.
one thing that suprised me was my playing of fast stuff and double tonguing etc fell apart at low latencies than 64 as well, for awhile i was trying 64 samples at 96k and was fully intending to keep it there but then i started testing with double tonguing and i was like wtf?
fell back to 48k and all is well. kinda wish i could try a 64 samples at 88k setting.
i think what my brain is looking for is a latency that mirrors the response time of a real horn.
i have read some piano players like a setting of about 8 ms cause its closer to the hammer action times.
but my stuff is all anecdotal i dont have the science numbers. feels real nice onstage tho, heres a clip of a wivi trumpet solo live, doin some of that double tonguing:

tony, real world latency can differ very much from buffer size reported by your interface; asio drivers, hosts, vst, usb bus overhead, midi latency, all this adds up. so it is not easy to measure, you might have had much more latency than you thought.
generally, with pcmcia or cardbus interfaces (rme echo indigo) you get lowest latency. combined usb or firewire midi/audio interfaces in many cases do not perform so well, even on the midi side.
most people at the brainspawn forte (live host for instruments) forum use pcmcia, pci, cardbus interfaces or rme fireface.

indeed, so my observations are just that, those of someone using the average setup thats working well live. i bought the m-audio firewire 410 with the thinking that if it didnt work id get something more expensive but if it did thats good cause if it gets stolen/stepped on/drenched in beer, blood sweat and tears(ballads)/ or burned its not as painful.
id also seen it with herbie hancock and michael brecker at a live concert in surround using all softsynths and they sounded quite great throughout.
it would be interesting and revealing to hear similar live demos played with ewi usb and v-machine doing similar double tonguing stunts, a lot of demos in general tend to be mid tempo things and not live and obviously live is where v-machine will be going a lot.
if i had them here i could tell in minutes if itd work for me or not just by running some tonguing exercises.
i bet a lot of this stuff is the same for drummers and guitarists, i have the wizoo latin percussion kit mapped up in halion and play congas etc on some tunes and use double tonguing to do rolls and fills and on mandolin i use it to do that fast picking sustain.

Wow!
Dl'ing right now!
Danny, you should write the version and build numbers and the release date on the website, so we can check if it's a newer release.
Also, for bandwidth saving, you could publish just the VFX soft without the sound library.
Great to see you on KvR!

Sorry, I jumped the gun, just spoke to Pete in the office in Germany, he is uploading it and will post it to all the forums as well. (1.1 DEV 20081205) should be in the next hour I would say. The files are all there so he is just setting them up on the website.
And it is just the installer without the library, not to worry. Some of the features on this version:
V-MACHINE
* Delete plugin menu.
* Fade out nicely on preset/bank change.
V-MACHINE and VFX Application
* Sampletank DLL will work with both Wizard import and with "Save Machine".
* Format V-Machine storage from application menu.
* DLL's with no wizard info will load.
* Import current external bank implemented (includes importing needed plugins).
VFX Application
* Save V-Machine re-implemented.
* Channel tabs update correctly when changing presets and banks.
* Dropdown menus, including plugins menu, are scrollable.
* Installer won't overwrite existing banks and plugs.
* No read only checkbox in windows open file dialog.
* Installer opens FAQ before showing wizard dialog.
* Bank and preset menus also available in main menu.
* Select text by default when renaming presets and banks.
* Active preset immediately uses newly imported plugin.
* Rename preset fixed.
* Load bank implemented.
* Rename bank fixed.
* Alpha blending in GUI repaired.
* Fixed LCD offset.
* LCD graphics clip to the edge of the LCD.
* Fixed bug where unloaded, and then reloaded plugin was not making sound.
* FAQ links in installer.
Please remember, the USB upload is rather slow (I agree) at the moment so if you are doing LARGE plugins with samples etc use a USB stick, much faster, something like Lounge Lizard takes like 5 minutes over the current USB link. This will obviously change in the next couple of revisions.

Thanks SM pro Team for the quick support!
It's still unclear to my how to add registry keys in the vfx file.
I exported to a reg file and merged it in the vfx file but the dll doesn't load (from USB stick!) on my Vmachine.
Is this the way it should be formatted?

Are you holding down the learn key (2 keys together) while switching the unit ON?
Which DLL is it?
