Where is Z2.3 and Z2.2 ? Installation problem

Hi,
I just installed Zebra 2.3 on Mac OS 10.4.11, and now all I got is Zebra 2.2 VST which crashes Live when I tried to set it to a track.
So I don't know where is Zebra 2.3 installed, I didn't found anything in Applications or plugins folders system or user.
I think the installer has removed my AU Z2.2 .
Help.
PS: why don't you put the plugins in a simple Zip ? (I hate installers that install all in /Applications ...)

The installer puts the plugins here:
MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ (AU)
MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/ (VST)
MacHD/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/ (RTAS)
It may be advisable to remove older versions if they are here:
MacHD/Users/You/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ (AU)
MacHD/Users/You/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/ (VST)
I'm using an installer because I can not answer 400+ emails of users who rather send an email than read the installation instructions. With the installer I get 3-5 requests per 1000 users, which is doable.
The installer has another advantage - it creates all versions out of the same data. This way the installer is a download of less than 12.5mb rather than 50mb.
Sorry that you have problems. This should really not happen, but I guess that your host doesn't check for installation dates and thus opens the wrong versions
Cheers,
Urs

Thanks for reply,
actually my main problem now is that Live doesn't display the Z2.3 AU and crashes when I'm trying to use the Z2.3 VST (and also with all ZXXX 2.3 VST)
I already use the rescan of plugins in Live Preferences but it doesn't change anything.
So now I have no more Zebra working.
I could reinstall the 2.2 anyway.

Can you send me the Live.crash.log (in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter) to urs at u-he dot com?
Maybe there's a hint in it...

Yes you can update to 6.0.10. You could also try trashing the Ableton.live preferences file, after quiting live.groumpf wrote:May I update Live from 6.0.9 to 6.0.10 ?

Yep- trash your preferences.cfg. Ableton support claims a system reboot isn't necessary, but I've found it helps.MCnoone wrote:Yes you can update to 6.0.10. You could also try trashing the Ableton.live preferences file, after quiting live.groumpf wrote:May I update Live from 6.0.9 to 6.0.10 ?
After the reboot, start Live. Done.

groumpf, it occurrs to me that you might be using aliases or symbolic links. I have identified the area where the crash happens, but it shouldn't crash without aliases and without multiple installations. I can assemble a debug version for you though.

I have a significant change : now the Zebra 2 AU is displayed in Live 6.0.9, and also all Z plugins, but when I starts an instance, the plugin window is totally blank, without any GUI.
The VST still crashes Live.
The modification I made is to trash the /Library/Audio/presets/u-he folder.
Actually all my presets are in my groumpf account since Zebra 2.

Hi,
I have a similar question: I just installed Zebra2 on Mac, and I can't launch the interface: there's no new application in m App folder and all files in the Presets/ and Audio/ folders have weird suffixes like *.h2p etc. What do I do ?
Cheers,
titus

Titus,
you need a host software such as Garageband, Logic or Cubase. Then proceed as described in their manual for "using 3rd party plug-ins".

The .h2p is Zebra's native patch format. The ,fxp equivalents are available for download at the u-he site.
You select which patch format (.h2p or .fxp) from the presets window.

I always keep old versions of Live around so I launched Live 6.0.10 and tried Zebra 2.3.2 AU and it worked fine. I can confirm that the VST crashed Live. This is in 10.4.11 on a Core2Duo MacBook Pro. I get no such issues in the latest version of Leopard, nor if I use a newer version of Live in 10.4.11.
I'll send the crash log when I get a chance.
@titusdt: There shouldn't be anything installed into the Applications folder and .h2p files are proprietary U-he format presets.
