Yes, I used the Virus settings as a starting point and then fine tuned the patch, but I guess a good sounddesigner (who I'm not

) hears all the essential settings of this patch, without having a look at the Virus itself.

IMHO a good sounddesigner creates the original patch and not some emulation of it. But if you do want to emulate there's a world of difference between having the original patch with all its building blocks spread out before you and recreating it from some vague soundclip playing some chords with it. If you want an accurate emulation that is.

so lets hear the patch please. I find this topic fascinating although I think it is going to be difficult to get any patch 100% the same. If you where to take a Sylenth1 patch and try and create it in a Virus you would be in the same boat. Should be possible but would also be difficult.

I have been looking for the perfect re-creation of the Blade Runner brass sound. It was originally created using a CS-80 I believe. I made one using Zebra 2 and also using Reasons Thor. Both where ok (limited by my ability and not the capability of the synths) but neither had the sort of sound I was looking for until I discovered that Vengilis was using a foot controller to open and close the filers and then I played them with the backing pads from the same track and the patch came to life. In a mix if the sound is nearly the same then it does not matter and if you write the song yourself then other people will be trying to re-create your sound (with great difficulty) as you may have stumbled onto it yourself. That's the beauty of synths.

The Zebra patch is very close to the Virus one and when I say very close I mean as an emulation. It does not sound better or worse then each other as they are both quality synths (as is Sylenth1).

All of them sounded better than Thor for my creation as it had a much more digital sound and that is not as pleasant to my ears anyway (but even that was usable)

Still would love to hear the virus patch recreated in Sylenth1 just out of interest.

Yeah 100% accurate emulation is almost never possible, like you say, recreating a Sylenth1 patch on the Virus would be as hard. Although Zebra, Sylenth1 and the Virus can sound close im some ways, they all have their own character and subtle differences. Anyway, would love to hear what Lennard can do as well.

For anyone looking into original patch (Lennard ?) here it is...I sold my TC Powercore card few days ago (i actually made trade - powercore for AD/DA converter but anyway ) so plugin is disabled but here are main screens. Keep in mind that "easy" page is not important. It contain only quick controls. FX-2 is also without any important assignment. Sorry for bad typing

I am far from Virus fanboy but to me Virus sounded better then zeta in this patch. IE i instantly picked virus from start in that mp3 before looking which sequence is which in that mp3. That does not mean Virus is better then Zeta i am just saying that for playing this patch i prefer Virus better then Zeta. Also i think Virus phaser have greater amount in this patch then on zeta patch so this is maybe why i like Virus better. I would like to hear how Sylenth1 is doing this. Out of interest of course.

There are two similar thread about that patch. I am not still sure which is which but i know i heard some examples where virus is playing then zebra. Few chords. At first i did not know which is which but i picked first as more usable to me. Then it turned to be Virus. At least by original author..

I think you're very close, it just needs some adjustments in the filters and more importantly, the fxs (mostly phaser settings)

to get it right we need the original chords as well

You are correct the Virus plays first and then Zebra. What I was saying was that in your previous post you said Zeta. The other comparison is in the U-He forum.
