Ok, gotta wait to install. The downloader detected something wrong with the download so it's "fixing" it now. It says 8 hours left, but hopefully it won't take that long.

Just wrote you an email. There have been already 4 cases. It should not be so long. It needs to go through the file, find errors and fix them. It is not like it would download it again.koolkeys wrote:Ok, gotta wait to install. The downloader detected something wrong with the download so it's "fixing" it now. Yeah, I think I remember the others saying that it didn't take nearly that long. So I'll just wait. I'm sure I'll be up and running today with it!

Right off the bat, there are a couple things I would say about the installer:
1.) It's really nice to have an option to install the library in a different folder than where the actual program is going. I (and most of us) have a secondary drive where I keep all my samples, libraries, and session files, and with large libraries like this, I prefer to keep them off my system drive. I'm sure I'm not alone on this. So, an option to install the library to an additional folder would be excellent.
2.) The online activation was not an issue for me, but a lot of people never connect their DAW's to the internet. Most programs that use online activation (Live, IK's stuff, etc.) give you an option to process the activation from another PC, and then just copy to the code over to the one you have. I can see this being a problem for some people, since as far as I can tell, you can only authorize it if the actual PC on which you want to install it is connected to the internet.
Haven't had much time to play around yet, but those are my thoughts on the install process.

I have to say that I am very impressed so far. However, I want to save my comments until we have a better way to exchange information. It would be great if there was a new forum created for your products. This thread could become hard to follow in short order.
Until then, I'll keep my notes and send you an email if I run across any glaring issues. So far my list of items is only about 4-5 deep. But without a doubt this is a really sweet effort from Melda

It is not so easy, because there is several types of data. The reason is to be able to use your samples or just separate the application and data? Because if (2), then you can technically install it to your secondary drive, because MDrummer actually does not need any registry entries or whatever stuff, so when you reinstall your system, just drum MDrummerConfig and you are ready to rock'n'roll!sockofgold wrote:Right off the bat, there are a couple things I would say about the installer:

Actually you do not need to be connected. I will explain:sockofgold wrote: 2.) The online activation was not an issue for me, but a lot of people never connect their DAW's to the internet. MDrummer contains huge amount of resources. And we obviously do not want everyone to download and install and in spite they do not have licence key, they would be able to steal the samples. Yeah, the samples are only a minority, and multisamples are much more important and huge and useless without MDrummer, but it would not be nice anyway. Therefore installers checks directly for the licence key.
The DVD version installer will not have it, since the problem does not exist there (except the fact of duplicating DVDs).
And second the licence manager - if your computer is not connected to internet, it can create a small HTML file, which you can use on another computer to activate the licence. You will download a small licence file and the use the licence manager again and load that file.
Actually I need a favour from anyone, who is up to do it (it is not very tested yet) - so if you can, please turn off your internet during activation and proceed as requested. I'd be glad if anyone can confirm, that it works and MDrummer will be activated. Don't be afraid, no harm can be done.
Thanks in advance!

Agreed.stanlea wrote:Here we go.
First request : in the drum editor, if you choose a sample as layer source, you can just access to the provided samples. I would be useful to be able to access to other sample folders of the machine.

Email is ok too but I won't get the other users response to my findings that way. So, with that in mind...MeldaProduction wrote:Thanks UncleAge!UncleAge wrote:I have to say that I am very impressed so far. Initial thoughts:
1. [Separate sample install] Would be nice to have the ability to install samples separately. I re-image my drive every so often and I appreciate when apps with large libraries give me the ability to install samples separately. This allows me to keep them on a separate external drive. After a re-image or hard drive failure, I only have to install the app again, not all the supporting samples.
2. [Mouse hover] F1 to access the button's info is ok but a bit tedious when first using the app. Having the ability to turn "mouse hover" assist on and off via an options/preferences menu would be a little nicer.
3. [Tempo control] Is there a way to type in the tempo I need? I can't seem to get it set on the exact number I want just using the mouse.
[more later]

Ok, I need to understand it first. So my question is - why not to install mdrummer on that drive. When you change drive mapping or just move MDrummer somewhere else, you can just run MDrummerConfig and everything should be working again.UncleAge wrote:Initial thoughts:

When you click on "?" button it shows help for all of the controls inside particular panel. Is it good enough?UncleAge wrote: 2. Not yet, good point!UncleAge wrote: 3. [Tempo control] Is there a way to type in the tempo I need? I can't seem to get it set on the exact number I want just using the mouse.

4. [Internet Access] Informing a user prior to purchase that the machine will have to access the internet for activation may be a good idea. A lot of users keep their DAW's off the net for protection and performance purposes. Another option is to come up with an alternative activation method.
