Can! Not! Re! Sist!
A little improvisation with a drumloop and Uhbik-G (which is still under heaviest development and will enter the scene somewhen in 2009), posted here for to put myself under further obligations so that I don't forget about this:
http://www.u-he.com/music/GrainDad.mp3
First part is work-in-progress pitch shifting mode (better suited for polyphonic instruments and vocals than for drums), second part is multichannel granular madness (good for drums, really), which is almost ready-to-go. I'm tweaking grain size and "Scaling" in realtime, plus Channel Offset on Scaling. What's missing is the actual vocal mode which caused me slight headaches.

Dang it, Urs. You had to release this on the day I was planning on using my saved up money for a UAD card?!
I'm dl'ing the beta demos now in a futile attempt to say I don't need Uhbik.

Yeah! Can it be pitched via MIDI notes?Urs wrote:I'm tweaking grain size and "Scaling" in realtime...

Why, yes. The interval mode is fine, but the absolute mode is the reason for further work.Howard wrote:Yeah! Can it be pitched via MIDI notes?Urs wrote:I'm tweaking grain size and "Scaling" in realtime...

Urs,
Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus (no pun intended) :-)
I didn't even check out the demos before I placed my order
and as usual I am blown away! BTW, I have some contacts at MOTU
and will try and see if there is someone you can communicate with
there about the surround problem in DP when I get to work on
Monday.
Thanks again for all your hard work and dedication to quality
which coupled with your obvious genius make me keep coming
back for more u-he goodness!
Cheers,
Scott

I know from past experience that I like the way you hear things, Urs, so I didn't expect these to be anything less than great sounding. And they are. Smooth and very pleasing. The phaser is just to die for.
In the past, I've tended to be fairly minimalistic about the additional effects I put on synth parts, but these plugins (along with Filterscape) are really inspiring me to experiment with bending and shaping things more than I have previously. They really put you in sort of a Thomas Dolby/Mad Scientist frame of mind when you start playing with them. Just running one of Michael's new analog brass patches for Zebra through different combinations of Uhbik effects, I stumbled upon ideas for two more songs within about 20 minutes.
At this rate, my next CD is practically going to be a u-he showcase, LOL.

I recommend attacking the theme from 'Sesame Street' as a demo as you sweep through the Uhbik alphabet,

Have you tried the "pure stereo" trick, i.e. rename uhbik-F.dll to Uhbik-F_2io.dll? This may fix problems with chainer...

I'm a bit confused though because Nuendo should do multichannel/surround just fine... how old is your Nuendo? - There was a similar problem in an older version of Cubase...
Sigh... I had hoped the list of surround-o-phobic hosts would be way smaller...
I am using the latest.
Nuendo 4.2.2 on the PC...
if you insert any of them into a mono audio track. you get no audio.........

Just ordered Uhbik and everything worked fine. The only "bug" in the ordering that I could find was that the very first share-it page said there was 0% VAT, while the final order showed 6.5%, and I have no idea which is correct, but it's only a few bucks so I really don't care.

Couldn't resist either, made a very quick demo, just some µTonic drums and bass, pad and keys from Zebra. First half, boring unprocessed sound, second half Uhbik applied to single tracks as well as the sum. No automation or other weird stuff, just some Uhbik presets. Oh, and no dynamics processing, so might sound a bit flat.
