Any SoundToys owners here trying these ?

Liking what I hear of the Uhbik A and F so far, I haven't spent much that time on the others yet. I have been saving for SoundToys native and ArtsAcoustic reverb, but these are very tempting and would enable me to stay iLok free.. plus I could get them NOW which is always satisfying

yeah, I was considering going for the soundtoys native bundle... But frankly, uhbik is just plain better and let me stay iLok free. The main plugin I was worried about trying to replace was the tremelo in soundtoys native, but I think I actually like urs' tremelo far more... I figure there are a million acceptable alternatives to the delays and filters, and audio damage's discord can do the crystallizer thing somewhat.

It's also FAR cheaper, especially at the current price.

Don't know if this is the appropriate thread for reporting bugs. However...

- With all plugins: When trying to adjust a knob with the mouse scroll wheel or scrollball, the knobs jump to about 10 o'clock, and move up and down between +/- one or two values points there.

- With UHBIK-S: When loading a AU preset (saved in the host's preset system), I first get a sound with obviously a high frequency range setting (only audible, the GUI doesn't reflect that). Then when I stop and start the sequencer once again, the correct settings will be used.

Ive got the Soundtoys bundle and I have to say Im considering picking the Uhbik up also at this beta price...

My current thoughts:

This bundle is at a similar very high level of quality that Soundtoys is. Im really impressed.

Uhbik:
Im finding the quality very high - here are a few thoughts based on my use and applications thus far:

Runciter is a bloody good filter! I did a shoot-out with Runciter last night with Soundtoys Filterfreak and UAD Moog filter - and you know what - I think I prefer the basic filter sound of Uhbik best! This is quite an achievement IMO. There isnt any harshness in the highs of the high-pass - and usually I slightly wince when using a ITB high pass filter - not so with Uhbik! The drive is also VERY musical.
However - Runciter is lacking in the filter modulation compared to the other plugs - even UAD Moog is better - which in itself is lacking - but at least has an LFO.
Soundtoys Filterreak is a very versatile Filter - and importantly - you can use it as your main filter for a softsynth - as it has triggerable ADSR envelopes that are snappy - as well as other modulation choices and saturation stages....

Soundtoys has fewer plugins - but there is more options embedded in them than Uhbik - which are simpler to use. I really like this about Uhbik - however - it is also limiting in some aspects such as Runciter...

The Uhbik Flanger plugin has really stood out as a beautiful effect that isnt present in Soundtoys - but you may be able to replicate something similar with Phasemistress....

The Uhbik ambience plugin looks nice but I havent had much chance to try it yet...but you dont get that in Soundtoys.

ST Phasemistress trounces Uhbik Phaser in terms of options - but then - Phasemistress may be overboard for many users with its options...

ST Echoboy - well that is Im afraid to say - an absolute classic plugin - just brilliant. You might wonder - 'what can be so good about a delay plugin?' - until you use it. Tough for Uhbik to beat - but the Uhbik delay looks good. Again not had enough time with it...

For me having the Soundtoys Im mostly interested in the Uhbik Runciter - for its excellent filter quality - but undecided about its versatility....And the Flanger plugin. Of course - the Granular plugin coming up sounds SICK.

Basically - there are Pros and Cons to both depending what you like and need with each - but Uhbik is definately up there - and will always be better value if money is a concern in the decision. I have no issues with using an iLok personally.

Ideally - buy BOTH

Thanks you very much! That's an excellent comparison to which I can 100% relate.

An disadvantage of Runciter is IMHO currently that it's only got one filter mode and it can sound pretty harsh with little resonance. I think that the UAD filter is just The Butter in comparison, but I havn't tested it yet (UAD2 here), only judging from the demos.

One thing to keep in mind though is that the current lineup is all geared towards "every day use". It's up there for the situations where you just fling it into a track and get going.

All special uses, such as Midi-triggered ADSR envelopes will be available with Uhbik-X, which will be added to the bundle in a few days (I'm currently writing the last bits of the manual so i can pass it over to Howie for translation).

Uhbik-X is going to add snappy envelopes, envelope followers, LFOs etc. and parallel/multiband processing to each of the effects. I might even add the MultiStage envelopes known from Zebra and MFM2 to it - depends on the gui design, if I can fit them in there... we'll know in a few days...

I might have another bug, randomly both the zebra and uhbik's GUIs close on me. Live 7.0.12 - vista - core2quad q6600. Might be a vista problem. Also, sometimes when dragging onto second monitor in dual set-up, gui gets messed up after dragging back. Seems random, I can't reproduce it at the moment.

That being said these plugins sound great, at a great price. Can't wait for -G if you're looking for a beta tester... Also, I have a feature request If you're interested: I find that it is somewhat difficult to turn knobs and land on whole numbers, whithout having to use shift. It would be nice if there was a modifier key (Maybe alt/option) that could be held while turning knobs that would allow you to step through whole numbers. Would be useful for uhbik-D.

Have you tried clicking into the rim around the knob? This sets the knobs to circular behaviour and has a different snap. The delay times then change at 0.25 intervals.

Also, we'll soon have the MouseWheel back (but I've just seen that it's a bit quicky still... will take your post into account and improve this)
