ATT: Danny;
I just received my v-machine and cannot update the firmware, it simply hangs for hours and the VFX application becomes unresponsive, if I use the unit with a midi keyboard everything seems fine, but no luck trying to update.
Steps:
-with a usb cable plugged in, I turn on machine while holding the [Learn] buttons until I see the update message.
-I run VFX, it asks if I want to update firmware, I click yes
-that is all she wrote, the v-machine says connected, but will stay that way for hours until I unplug it...
Grateful thanks for any help, I would like to use the unit, I have checked all the docs on the smpro site, I cant find anything I need to do that I have not tried yet.

These are the steps I would take.
1. when you connect the v-machine to the PC and switch the power on, does it detect it as a midi device.
2. do you have other midi devices connected to your PC (please disconnect them)
3. which version of the firmware/software have you downloaded?

Yes it does, if I just turn on V-Machine I can actually run the VFX program and control VSTs, there is some interaction of the V-Machine and VFX, whatever patch I selected on the hardware menu on vmachine plays, but I also get the opened VST in VFX to play...VFXAU wrote: 1. when you connect the v-machine to the PC and switch the power on, does it detect it as a midi device.
I did before but I tried the update with zero usb midi devices connected, V-Machine was the only midi device, same result, but also VFX works fine until I try to [Sync], then I get same result, VFX freezes...2. do you have other midi devices connected to your PC (please disconnect them)

Hi,
I was very excited last night when I got my V-Machine. It seems to work pretty well, though I had expected a Mac version to be available today, but I guess I can wait a couple of weeks for that.
However, I'm kind of worried of the long load times when changing patches. I bought my unit to replace my MacBook Pro / Apple Main Stage setup when I play live. I was looking for a more neat solution to play virtual instruments rather than having a laptop on stage. The V-Machine seemed like the perfect choise.
When using Apple Main Stage I can instantly change patches almost without latency. More importantly, I can keep a note pressed when changing to another patch and start playing notes with the new patch and still have the old note sounding. Another example would be a sound with long release time or delay/reverb effects applied to it for instance. You expect the sound to keep fading out when you start playing a new patch. This usage is very common for me actually.
I really hope you can solve this issue in future firmware updates, because without this functionality I doubt that I can use this unit live (which I thought was the whole point).
Cheers
Martin

Danny I can't seem to make SampleTank work properly. Could you provide a step-by-step guide on how to install it and import it into the VFX and then to the V-Machine? Thank you!

These are some very sought after features that even the most expensive keyboards (Motif, Fantom, Oasys) don't have. In my experience, I've seen very few keyboards with such a feature. Changing patches usually also involves changing effects, and if the basic tone is still playing, you always hear a hole in the effect chain. Otherwise the sound is truncated.alpha60 wrote: When using Apple Main Stage I can instantly change patches almost without latency. Doing this with VSTs means that the machine must run the old plugins (instrument and effects) and load the new ones already while you're still playing... requires lot of power and memory... I don't think the little V-Machine will ever see this feature.

it comes pre-installed unless something was changed by the user.
Installing Sample Tank into the PC, please follow the instructions in the FAQ page on www.smproaudio.com
We have not had any reports with issues to do with this, but if you get stuck I am happy to try and help you.

In a previous post I talked about setting up presets for faster changes.
Please read it.
Thanks

Well, a good Piano-Sound is one Reason why I bought this thing. I love the ZD6-Clavinet-Plugin, some free Mellotron-Samples and the Minimogue-Plugin. All I need for happiness now is a good (I mean really good!) Piano-Plugin.

Yeah, I guess you are right. But if the V-Machine's hardware is the problem, I wouldn't mind spending a couple of hundred dollars more to bump the cpu and memory of this little thingy. The idea of having a small handy unit optimized for VST (or AU) playback is what makes the V-Machine so cool in my opinion.ZioKiller wrote:These are some very sought after features that even the most expensive keyboards (Motif, Fantom, Oasys) don't have. And thank you Danny for your patch set up advise. It doesn't solve my problem 100%, but hopefully it will be enough for my needs. I'll play around with it a bit.
