Nope, my UHBIK's are registered, Howard. The crackle I get is much lower in volume than what the plugs exhibit in demo mode (and is much more frequent), and it only happens if I place one of the plugs on a mono track. I know Urs had stated elsewhere that UHBIK needs a fix to work properly in mono, but I just thought I'd try it anyway. It's a demo. The periodic crackle is on purpose.

ooooph... I just finished writing the manual for the current 8 effects and sent it to Howie for translation. It's 25 pages without any graphics
I think it'll be pretty useful though. There are loads of hidden features and perspectives which deserve a word or two. It also details the history of each effect a bit, which may then explain many design decisions for Uhbik.
I'll slowly do the fancy graphics, frequency plots, web stuff and bug fixes.
I expect a proper pre-release on Friday, with or without a public prototype of X. Latter will consume another 10-15 pages in the manual which we'll be working on for the rest of December.
Later,
Urs

I tested through the suite and the effects are great for vocals, especially Uhbik A (Reverb) and Runcitter (Distortion).
Of the Reverbs I tested over the last couple of days (Ableton Live's, NI Kore 2 especially Guitar Rig and Reaktor based ones, CSR, Breverb) ReaUhbik A is definetively among the best suited for live vocals, especially if you want to go 100% wet. It offers the clarity necessary for keeping lyrics intelligible without necessarily sounding to sterile or metallic unless you want it too aka great flexibility.
The only gripe that comes to my mind is the lack of stereo spread control with dual-mono sources (where the host uses the same signal on both channels instead of offering true mono channels). That makes the use of a stereo->mono plugin afterwards necessary in live sitations where usually you want the to allows the audience to hear your effects on both sides of the stage.
It's not that much of an inconvinience, but a mono output build into the algorithm surely handles phase-cancellation problems better than just patching something afterwards.
Runcitter allows me to finally build a vocal distortion effect with enough control to keep lyrics intelligible while feedback remains somewhat under control thanks to the filtering options.
Combine that with the current Nice Price offer and you can only give Ubik: Thumbs up! I buy!

@Urs: Do you prefer any specific kind of payment method? Like, does Paypal or Credit Card cost you some percentage and thus leaves you with less outcome? Or don't you care at all?

It's all the same with ShareIt... thanks for askingT1mur wrote:@Urs: Do you prefer any specific kind of payment method? Like, does Paypal or Credit Card cost you some percentage and thus leaves you with less outcome? Or don't you care at all?
I'll have direct PayPal support at some point, but finishing the bundle has higher priority than that.
Cheers,

P: They don't do mono/stereo to surround processing
S: Wait and see.
Sorry for asking if the above also applies to mono to stereo processing. I find that Uhbik-D mono to stereo only outputs to the left side of the stereo outs.
I bought. Very pleased.

OK! I spent some time with these babies last night and all I an say is I'm impressed. I couldn't help but think of the possibilities of what could be done with a matrix effect host version of this... Sorry warmverb, you'll have to wait until next time!
I do have one complaint, but it doesn't have anything to do with function or quality. It's the plug in names. "Uhbik" is fine, but "Uhbik A" tells me nothing. Eventually I'm sure I'll remember what each of them does, but I propose some onomatopoeiatic style names like "Uhmbiance" or "FlUhnger"
like so...
UHmbiance
flUhnger
flUHngus
filtUHr
trUHmalo
dUHlay
pUHser

Sorry, but it is Uhbik. It must be.
You can rename them
Uhbik-Ambient.dll
Uhbik-Delay.dll
Uhbik-Flanger.dll
Uhbik-Phaser.dll
Uhbik-Qualizer.dll
Uhbik-Shifter.dll
Uhbik-Tremolo.dll
You only can't do that with AudioUnits though...
