I cannot get MDrummer to work. Most of the time it does not make any sound at all. Sometimes it makes a click or a popping sound (kind of like when you plug a mic or guitar into a live amp.) A very few times, I have heard the samples playing, but never more than a few notes in a row and never more than one instrument at a time. For example, I might hear 2-3 hits on the toms, but nothing else. Even if I hear something, it isn't consistant. For example, when I play a loop and hear the 2-3 toms, I might not hear anything if I play the loop again.
I have an AMD Athlon XP processor (2.16GHz). I am using Windows XP (SP2). MDrummer runs at about 30 - 50% when it is actively trying to play a rhythm. It uses 2 - 5% if I am in the Drumset editor trying to test one instrument at a time. It doesn't seem to be using an abnormal amount of RAM (about 50MB to 150MB out of 512MB, depending on which drumset is loaded).
I've tried running the config program and can hear a steady tone coming from it. I've tried using the default audio driver, the DirectSound driver, and the ASIO4ALL driver. All play the tone. I've tried moving the buffer size up and down. Nothing seems to make a difference.
I've discovered that I can listen to some individual instruments in the Drumset editor. For example, if I load the Dance/Alternative 1 kit, I can click the preview button to hear the Toms and Floor Toms, along with a few other pieces. This doesn't work with all kits. Some kits I can't hear anything. Also, if I go to the Rhythm editor and try to play a rhythm, I can't hear anything (except the occassional pop or sample as I said above). Then if I go back to the Drumset editor, the samples won't play any more. I have to reload the kit.
I am using the stand alone MDrummer, rather than the VSTi. I briefly tried the VSTi in Acid Music Studio 7.0 and it didn't seem to work any better. I'm at a loss at how to proceed next.

Well, it seems like update 2.06 fixed things. I don't think MDrummer could detect the update though. I saw the thread and downloaded manually. I'll play with it more tomorrow.

Yeah. I started off with this problem. It was an SSE-related issue, to do with the effects implementation. (ie: People with CPUs that don't support SSE2 would've experienced this.) Funny that it didn't crash on first boot however, which most others would do...

Yeah exactly like MaliceX says.
There was problem with SSE - on some older processors one instruction behaves not correctly (actually don't ask me what it does
, it is just weird). But it was not considered "invalid instruction".
We'll probably release an installer fixing this, so that nobody needs to use update. But only when it is final - probably in one week. After the christmas, the DVD version is goins to be created.
Cheers guys and stay with us!
