Nitrofunk wrote:But how to deal with Plugins that have a large Samplebank, for example "M-Tron" and "Ivory"?
Peter
The Large Sample Banks are really not an issue if the plugin can stream from HDD, you can use external usb hard disks or thumb drives.

And a stick would be too slow for that, right? Do you have a Wizard for "Ivory"?

No... why whould a USB2 (proper USB2 not just USB2 compatible which they put on many USB1.1 sticks) not be fast enough?

I dunno. I don't know too much about Computers. That's why I bought the V-Machine. And that's why I need someone who writes the Wizard for "Ivory" and the "M-Tron" for me. :hihi:

i am interested too in a wizard file for m-tron....

I have a question:

How do I "save" main menu parameters, so that they don't reset everytime I shut the V-Machine off? Like "parameter feedback", main menu knobs etc...

What about external harddrives then? Is a 5400 RPM good enough for Ivory? Or should I get 7200 RPM?

I have a few questions about files_to_copy, dirs_to_copy and symlinks.

I'm trying to use Samplelord. It runs smooth (and is definitely a great sample player!). I've loaded a .gig file, saved my preset in the VFX app and now I want it to point to the directory where my .gig files are located which is D:\gigs\

I've moved the gig file in /plugs/samplelord/gigs/ on my USB stick and put a symlink in the wizard file:

symlinks:
...
D:/gigs:samplelord/gigs
...

This should link my local dir to the one on the usb stick, right?
When I load this preset, the V-Machine freezes.

What's wrong?

I would prefer a simple (good quality with fast transfer rate) USB2-Stick. You get them with about 8 to 16 GB for some bucks. No moving parts. If you use a harddisk, imho you give up one of the main advantages of the v-machine: No moving parts to "care for"!

...oops - I mean M-Tron PRO.

VFXAU wrote:PianoTeq Demo 2.3 Wizard, it seems very hungry on CPU, we should all contact the vendor as I feel it can be made to run better.

The plugin will run more polyphony/notes if you disable the built in
reverb. By using a BANK you can use CHUNK support to disable the reverb.

How to reduce size: To reduce the size of this plug so it takes up less room you can delete the following...

The entire 'Pianoteq 2.3 Trial' folder can be deleted, it was left alone in case it helps users get the full version working.
Thanks for the wizard! I installed it and it works, eventhough I had to copy the needed files manualy (system32 and Program Files) why is that so? The path in the wizard file is correct...

Anyway: I can play the plug in but it is, as you mentioned, very hungry and in fact not seriously playable... I contacted Modart, but no answer yet...

So, I still have to wait to play a (good sounding) Piano on my vmachine...

Yes, but is the accesstime good enough for Ivory?

That is the big Question. No testers yet?

Wowowow! I didn't know that the chunk files are plain text! I casually opened one in Textpad and it came out the complete list of parameters and their respective values, so I don't need to mess with the wizard file for correct paths, I can type the paths to my GIG files directly into the chunk file... which of course is P:\samplelord\gigs

Ok, I think this is a good news for all. Samplelord is a very good sample player that can load and play several file formats (Halion, sfz, sf2, gig, kontakt...) with no need for conversion.
Plus, it's very light on CPU, easy to use, can stream samples, is 16 parts multi-timbral and has a huge polyphony. And runs great on the little-V! Last but not least, it'is very affordable.

I think it'll be my main axe for my fave samplesets on the V. :hyper:

no testers yet, i think....

But: from system requirements of ivory:

"Hard drive speed of at least 7200 RPM
recommended for all systems"

And I think, they are talking about INTERNAL SATA drives....?

But, come on: who really needs an 11 GB Piano-sample on stage?

Nobody will hear the difference.....Ziokillers solution sounds quite sensible, I think....
