Is there any change for a Channel Offset or simple Mono switch to be implemented into A? I'm particulary interested in having a real Mono Reverb (as much as this is possible with Reverb) instead of having to put a Stereo-to-Mono converter afterwards that may lead to unexpected results.
A's stereo behavior can be very frequency-depenent with some material, like outputting the wet signal hard left on "c" but hard right on "d". That can be problematic in a live situation where parts of the audience is standing on one side of the stage and thus hearing the output of only one side mostly.

Yo, I fixed mono operation in the VST layer and I'm pretty sure that Uhbik-A is going to be all mono now on a mono track. If it isn't, then I'll work harder to make it so!

Does this also apply to dual-mono tracks (aka stereo with same content/signal on both channels) like being used by Ableton Live?Urs wrote:Yo, I fixed mono operation in the VST layer and I'm pretty sure that Uhbik-A is going to be all mono now on a mono track. I thought the "mono" issues would just relate to real mono tracks and that my problems arise from Live's behavior of sending mono as dual-mono/stereo tracks to the plugin.
Would your fix mean that with dual-mono/mono material A cannot do any stereo spreading for tails/decay anymore? I mean, I can sing with a single (aka mono) voice into a room, but I'd still expect the room to react in "surround", unless A allows me to intentionally turn that to pure mono as an option.
Sorry, I'm a bit confused here.

Hmmm... let's see:
If a plugin gets two mono channels on input and output, it'll effectively process stereo. Thus the output of left side and right side will differ.
If a plugin gets only a single channel on input but two channels on output, it'll also effectively process stereo, the sresult is identical with above case.
If a plugin gets a mono input and a mono output, it'll process real mono.
What else would you expect?

Unfortunately Ableton Live always connects to plugins that single way. There is neither a mono input nor output possible, only dual-mono.Urs wrote:If a plugin gets two mono channels on input and output, it'll effectively process stereo. Thus the output of left side and right side will differ.
At least for Ableton Live (and I guess also for Kore and all other hosts that use dual-mono instead of real mono) we would need an option to switch Uhbik from Stereo to Dual-Mono (both inputs and outputs). If a plugin gets a mono input and a mono output, it'll process real mono.

I know that this is a shortcoming of the host and not Uhbik's, but since reality dictates that hosts like Live operate that way it would be especially nice to have an option for that, especially for comb/phase-proon effects like Reverb that cannot simply be turned into Mono afterwards.
An optional switch is preferable to Uhbik "autosensing" Dual-Mono, because oftentimes we want Stereo output with Dual-Mono input, while sometimes we don't.
Just to mention it: IK Multimedia's CSR features an "Out Image" knob for just that. It allows to spread the output from -360° to + 360° and tells the user when the knob ° corresponds to Mono, Stereo, Sideflip, Surround etc.

Patterns are enumerated top to bottom, as you would expect. The knob crossfades through them from first to last, as you would expect as well. Hence I see no contradictionxyzt wrote:Urs wrote: Nevermind, it's going to be beyond the ordinary anyway.

Can you give any comment on the 0 to 100 vs 100 to 0 in the pattern matrix?

But when I move my mouse up the pattern crossfade moves down, that's odd. It would be more logical visually when they move the same way. Have you tryed it?Urs wrote:Patterns are enumerated top to bottom, as you would expect. The knob crossfades through them from first to last, as you would expect as well. It's two different paradigms. Unfortuantely the concept of *lists* (spreadsheet, excel, pop-up menus) is top to bottom while the concept of *value* (knob, fader) is bottom to top.xyzt wrote:But when I move my mouse up the pattern crossfade moves down, that's odd. There's unfortuantely also no point in trying it, at least no on knob-level. I could however implement dragging on the indicator bar at some point. This could be top to bottom.

Oh yeah - I've got the full version now and I am extraordinarily happy with these plugs ... they all sound FABULOUS!!!!
And there's more to come ... hard to believe ... fantastic work Urs
Peace,
Andy.

ARRRGH. A bug in Ableton Live urges me to implement a wider control of surround channel layouts. And guess what, this is sheer horror, I have to rewrite large parts of some user interface controls for this. And of course there'll have to be numerous tests with various hosts again.
So I suppose I'll have a new beta by tomorrow and final release of the 8 after holidays. I just can't work this out any faster
With some luck I get it done till the 24th, but I don't want to spend the days with emergency fixes in case there are any unexpected desasters.

Urgs, sorry for having asked for the mono thingy in Live.
Let me quote one of the most commong replies I got from Ableton support when talking about possible bugs: "We cannot reproduce that here!"
