The sustain pedal should send Control Change no. 64, with value 0 for OFF (pedal up) and 127 for ON (pedal down).

Tuned? you mean the Pitch of a plugin?raymb1 wrote:Can the V-Machine be tuned? Later, Ray
Nearly all plugins I know have a pitch control, it is not up to the V-Machine to set this but if this parameter is on the plugin then you can certainly tune it.

Hi,jad13 wrote:Can someone please tell me if vmachine can run glitch (free vst), reaktor, or kontakt ???
Glitch as a plugin I have not tested...
Define Glitch?
If you mean CPU OVERLOAD... Sure it could, same as a PC could, but the idea is to set it up in your own enviroment and use it as you would use it live to test your plugins don't overload.
If it runs well then it will always run this way. That is it's main function.
It is very easy to see if you will overload it or not. (CPU METER)
If you are talking about Sudden Glitches or Stops etc... no reason for this to occur, it does not have to process any other functions like a standard OS based system does. In all honnesty, I have been using mine for 5 months now since Pre Production units were out, it has not failed, the hardware is very solid. I am not just saying this, please believe me, I know what went into it.
I would not be doing this support if I did not believe in the platform as a reliable alternative.
I will be very happy to hear of any Glitches as such and resolve them if possible.

If anyone is getting the FUT error with the 1212b software version, then try using the previous VFX application or a newer version when released. You can still keep the newer firmware in the vmachine just try the old software application or the next release when available.monodream wrote:Unfortunately I'm getting the ERROR FUT313 message when using this Wizard. The mtron pro works very well as does all the GForce software, to get a sound working you must create a bank and preset so the CHUNK file loads the sound.

For those of you who don't understand Chunk, It is what happens when you save the state of a plugin, so when you setup a PRESET in the VFX software (some plugins do not let you change Banks etc, or in sample tank you can select multiple samples and midi channels etc) when you hit the save button it creates a CHUNK FILE which when loaded in the V-Machine loads all the parameters needed for the plugin.MatthewSkinner wrote:If anyone is getting the FUT error with the 1212b software version, then try using the previous VFX application or a newer version when released. Hi ZioKiller,ZioKiller wrote:I tell you how I ported Pianoteq and Truepianos to the V-Machine with 64 (or 80) notes of polyphony...![]()
I own the bundle SampleLord + Extreme Sample Converter. The latter has a great function, it can sample the output from other VST instruments and automatically create a sound bank, all in a bunch of seconds. I know, many new programs have this function, but I never used it before and at first I was a bit skeptical, but EXSC really does a great job.
So, all I had to do was to choose a nice preset on the VSTi and select reasonable split points for sampling. The program did the rest. After that, a bit of editing in SampleLord and finally I could export a fxp preset (or chunk file, if using the VFX app).
I know, it's not the same thing as playing the actual VST instruments, but now I can have a nice piano sound on my V-Machine.
how did you do that exactly? I've downloaded Demo-Versions of the 2 programs and now I'm trying to "sample" Ivory with it. But how can I do this?

Peter
the shortest answer is RTFM
the longest is:
1. in EXSC go to the Source Format menu and click VSTi Converter.
2. in this new window click MENU -> VST Instruments -> and load the instrument you wish to sample
3. now do all your settings, load the correct audio driver and select the correct MIDI input for previewing sound, choose the desired sampling frequency (and be sure that A is 440Hz!), bit depth and disable HEAR SPLIT otherwise the sampling will be in real time and will require munutes, or even hours (according to the number and duration of notes you wish to sample)
4. choose the average note duration... for a piano sound I set HOLD to 20 seconds and RELEASE to 1 sec.
5. now you have to select the correct split points... right click on the keyboard to hear notes, click to insert/delete a split point. I start from the lower A and insert a new split every 3rd, 4th or 5th, according to the amount of timbral variation I can hear in the sound. Consider that 88-notes pianos don't have dampers for the last 17 notes, that is from G# of next to last octave and above, so it's a good choice to select a split point on that G# and go on every 3-4 notes.
6. if you wish to have velocity splits as well, you can drag the top line of the square boxes up and down to create new velocity split points. Select all squares for a unique horizontal split. Don't forget to save your mapping in FILE/ZONE -> Save... before sampling, so you can reuse your mapping and make several experiments before saving your multisample
7. once you're done with your split points, go to MENU -> Sampling and wait.
8. now you have a new SFZ multisample in EXSC's main window. Do some global editing first, especially regarding the release times. Go to Tools menu -> Patch editor. Select all zones and set the VCA release time to 0,600s. Select zones from that G# and above, and set a release time of 20 seconds. Select zone from first A to second C and set a release time of 1 second. This will compensate the actual release times of a real piano.
9. once you're done, select the desired Destination Format from the menu and click CONVERT. I prefer GIGASTUDIO 3 format.
10. now you can load your new GIG multisample in SampleLord and tweak the filter, the envelopes, save your preset, and so on...
11.... RTFM again

Ok, how do I tell the pedal to send those values? Is there a software solution?ZioKiller wrote:The sustain pedal should send Control Change no. 64, with value 0 for OFF (pedal up) and 127 for ON (pedal down).

I don't know, but that's a standard since the first days of MIDI (1982!), I can't believe there's a keyboard out there that uses a different message type for the sustain pedal.PX5 wrote:Ok, how do I tell the pedal to send those values? Which keyboard are you using? Check the user's manual.
