Asked about newer models before I bought t older on10/14/08

So I emailed plugo support with this

Before I purchased this I called MUSE and asked about SATA drives. They told me how difficult it would be and that the OS would need to be completely rewritten for it to work. I then asked if they had any plans of new models with this feature. They said "not for the foreseeable future."
So I purchased a recepter thinking that it was as gould as it was going to get on 10/14/08.
Now I see there is a new model with just what I asked for. What the hell !!! So I guess I'm going to get a stupid explanation for being lied to when what you were and are really doinig is getting rid of the old models

And they replied with this


I am sorry about your frustration. SATA is indeed available on the new Receptor2. This is due to a major overhaul we had to do in Hardware (new processor, motherboard etc...) as well as a redesigned Receptor operating system (1.8). Most likely at the time you called there where still too many issues and problems with the SATA drive compatibility, and we here at the company weren't sure if we could use it yet. Muse research is not a large company, and we truly aim to create a superior product and provide a quality user experience. We never intend to misinform or mislead customers, and I sincerely apologize on behalf of the Muse Research team for any misunderstanding that may have occured.

So they must think I'm really stupid. What a crock of sh%t. They new damn well there was a new model coming out and just lied through there teeth.
I want some justice here, and I don't think I'm the only one that got the same bullsh%t from someone at muse.

I will get a fair exchange one way or another.

I'm not sure about that - in my experience they're very honest people. They can be uncommunicative, noncommittal, etc, but they're usually very honest :hihi: :P

I guess this is precisely why other companies rigorously not talk about unannounced products. However, I hope MUSE continues to give us some information from time to time, even if premature...

Yea but look how they responed, all indifferent, thinking I'll buy that they designed, put togethter a new upgrade machine with new OS and they did it in under 45 days. Oh sure that makes since, They must have had no plans, no ideal of anything up the line. OK yea I'll Buy that.Shiiiiiit

Well now with all due respect to your concerns, you may benefit as much as anyone else from this upgrade. If you purchased your product in October you probably paid far less for your receptor than you would for a new Receptor 2 Pro. Muse has already said that you will be able to upgrade for a fair and reasonable price. One response on this forum even said that upgrades would cost less for people who purchased recently. Just wait, you might wind up with a Pro 2 with lees money out of pocket than you ever thought.

Actually, you are quite right about that. Unlike most companies, we intend to take care of those who purchased recently so that they specifically do NOT feel ripped off. People who bought after September 1st are going to be able to upgrade to the RECEPTOR 2 for an even more preferntial price than those who've owned their units for a while. Our aim is to make everyone happy, and yeah, that's impossible, but that doesn't stop us from trying. Now if I can only get Apple to upgrade me to the latest MacBook Pro real cheap... ha!

I think Kevin responded very appropriately, and to his defense he didn't have all the details of he upgrade program available to explain your options, and you definitely have some options. I don't know who said we wouldn't support SATA since the Rev Cs support SATA (1) as well, and in fact in the past we have suggested that one of the reasons to upgrade to a Rev C (from Rev A or Rev B) specifically because we were going to support SATA.

So, I apologize that you received bad information about the situation regarding SATA. I'll try to find out who told you that and make sure they know the correct information. The situation is this:

1. Rev C has a SATA port. But only SATA 1. You can use this tributary in the upcoming 1.8 release, and you can purchase a drive from us with the software all loaded. This will be an option in the coming 1.8 release.

2. SATA 2 is supported in RECEPTOR 2. And customers who purchased a Receptor after September 1st will receive special upgrade pricing that will likely cause many people to go out and try to find a dealer who has a original Receptor in stock available on clearance and upgrade!

I know I promised you guys upgrade pricing info, and I'm sending it to Ben for incorporation on the site... sorry for the delay, but the handling of pre-installed software is actually fairly complex and we wanted to make sure we were doing the right thing for everyone involved in how we would manage it.

Anyway, hope you guys all have a wonderful Holiday. We'll be closed on Christmas as well as Boxing Day, but back on Monday.
