Wow, given that plugin developers could be in the hundreds, I don't think any small project like vmachine can afford to give away that many demo machines, I know what those dedicated units cost because we use them for hotspot firewalls, as it is there is not a big margin on the price I can assure you...

Maybe a lender would be feasible ?

Yes... this is starting to become a major issue. My 80-voice Samplelord patch was just an optimistic estimate, but in practice if you want 128 buffers for an acceptable latency, the max polyphony before the dropout point is nothing more than 28~32 voices, which is kind of pointless for 2008 standards.

I really hope that the CPU board will be soon replaced by a more powerful and less hot CPU with at leat 8~10 times the computational power of the current one.

Hello Marco thank you for the link. I have the latest firmware and am aware of restoring the unit in the above link's manner. I thought from reading the previous posts from Danny that there is an actual image file that you import into the V Machine instead going with the CD? Again thank for your response,

sincerely,

JJ

-Since it is possible to have much vst and vsti's on the v-machine, a menu structure inside the plugins folder would be handy (eg. synths, piano's, reverb, delay) for easier acces.

-A lot vsti's don't have a transposefunction so it really should bew there on the v-machine. At least 4 octaves. 6 would be perfect.

-It seems there is no way to save a patch to it's fxb-file. inside the VFX-application. Most DAW's have dedicated knobs for it.
It is possible to make presets but you can't load, for example the reverb settings of one preset into another (you can only copy the complete preset). So as I see it, you can't save a new-created reverb patch so you can use it into another preset. (not the best way to say it but I hope you understand what I mean)

-The possibility to edit automation settings in the VFX application

-I really hope the processor is upgradable because this one just is not strong enough to make complex splits and layers.
Thank you for the ideas Harry. After the New Year we will make a priority list for the next firmware release. The most important thing until now was to have the machine and the software stable, the machine is very stable, the software has a few things which we would like to fix.

Can you explain what you mean by EDITING AUTOMATION SETTINGS, I assume you mean the learn function parameters.

We may offer in end Q1 a processor upgrade path, but when you look at this compared to a normal Synth module which just does one synth for it's whole life (or a basic DSP which has very few different sounds available) then it all makes sense.. but I understand what you are would like and I hope we can let you have it ASAP.

OK, I will post it once more, this is an IMAGE STICK, you need to use a 1gig or 2 gig stick, format it as FAT32. it includes some simple software to make any image but I rather use ROADKIL image maker as it is easier, make sure you use the PHYSICAL DRIVE not the DRIVE LETTER>

You put the stick in and then switch ON the V, would take 4-5 min to load everything back in, make sure nothing else is hooked up to the v-machine at the time.

This take it back to 1205, then do the normal UPDATE FIRMWARE via the PC to 1219.

http://aws.greyinnovation.com.s3.amazon ... ip?torrent

It is a Torrent, so please download a torrent client first.

This is a Total Recovery Stick so it erases everything inside!!!!
Also.. do NOT USER IT ON YOUR PC after making a BOOT STICK, as it could literally WIPE OUT YOUR PC!! so please DON'T LEAVE IT IN THE PC after making it and mark it carefully. If a Boot stick such as this is inside a PC which can boot from USB you are in DEEP DEEP... ***king ***t

This is really a last resort, not reason why you cannot just FORMAT the V and then re-load from stick what you need after EXPORT V-MACHINE in the application (1219). Don't bother using the USB cable for sync of large samples or DLL's. Just do it on a stick, For speed, use a USB2 stick, proper USB2!! they are more expensive but then saves you a huge amount of time as well as speed while changing banks externally (especially large sample players).

otherwise have a happy new year!!

We offered most developers a special price on them and most are happy to accept this.

I think I may have found out why my M-tron wasn't working earlier. I read in the faq on the Gforce website that in some cases you need to put two extra .dll files (msvcp71.dll & msvcr71.dll) in your windows system folder. So I just includes these two files in plugs\M-Tron. I can't really say for sure if this was the culprit because I've been trying heaps of different approaches, but it's working now, so I'm happy!

At the very least I can confirm that the old M-tron (4.6) plugin is working like a charm on the V-machine.

edit: I just noticed the pitch wheel isn't working. It seems the M-tron doesn't recognize the pitch wheel, even though it has a native pitch parameter.

Here's the wizard file I used:

Code: Select all

dll_name: M-Tron/MTron.dll
id: 1297371726
name: M-Tron
is_synth: 1
parameter_count: 8
program_count: 1
has_editor: 1
editor_width: 816
editor_height: 244
symlinks:
...
Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins/M-Tron:M-Tron/M-Tron
...

I put the banks in a subfolder called M-Tron. Then I used the VFX app to create the presets I'm using. Please note that in my case if I hit a key on the Mtron gui in the VFX app it crashed with (Assertion failed: ERROR NTL401).

Hi,

i bought a v-machine 4/5 weeks ago and i really would like to use it on stage (first gig is in 1 and a half week) but for some strange reason the VFX software doesn't start. I can install it, i can run it, but as soon as the interface shows up, i get a Windows error. Already made a ticket on the sm pro website and tried different things to resolve this error, without any luck. I've seen it crash on multiple pc's (only one laptop was able to run VFX), and I wondered if there are more people who had the same issue and have a solution. Thanks in advance.

Anyone looking for a real bargain on a usb stick that works with V-Machine ?

These guys have an 8 GIG(yes 8 gig) USB stick for $19 !!!
http://www.memorystock.com/orderitem.asp?it=8GB-USB

Just FYI, that is really cheap me thinks....

Talking about shoping: knows anybody a shop which sells these kind of 44-pin IDE Flash-Modules? There are some, but the connector allways got 90° angle, so you can't plug it in the V-Machine...
