I've got my MIDI keyboard plugged in to my mac via Maudio Midisport 2x2.

It's my o-l-d reliable Kawai k1. so far I can record midi data (notes) from the k1 into the mulab on a track. but i can't seem to route that track back to the k1 for playback. I can route it to one of the onboard synths or samplers, but I want the track to play my k1.

I have the Midisport as my MIDI output on all 16 channels on the MIDI setup screen;

where do I assign the MIDI output for the track or a rack to my midisport? it doesn't show up in the list of sends, or synths like the onboard stuff does.

what simple stupid thing am I not doing? :cry:

At the bottom of a rack, right click (um, or whatever that is on a Mac) the bottom slot. It should say "Show Event Output". Select that. You should see "No Event Output" as the current destination of events in that rack. You want to pick a target for the events, so normal click to get the list of options -- Racks and MIDI Outputs. Open up MIDI Outputs and select the port your K1 is connected on.

I thought you could do a similar trick with a send but maybe not...

thanks for the reply- I tried what you said, but unfortunately my Midisport doesnt show up in the list(s) that come up- only the onboard synths and samplas.

the midi interface is working or I couldn't record the notes in. why might it not be in the list of output options? :(

I think you need to create an "Event Output" in the MPA.

Please see the MU.LAB docs -> Q & A -> "How can I sequence my hardware synths via MIDI?" : http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/quest ... swers.html

AHA! Thank you thank you thank you!

the MPA is what I needed to know about... I created an event output in the MPA for my Midisport, connected it to the master block in the MPA and voila! I can now choose that as an event output for the master rack- and route my midi trax to the master rack and MY HARDWARE SYNTH PLAYS!

now to experiment combining on-board and hardware sounds... tee hee...
