Some ideas for future uhbiks?

While I was at work I fantasized about two possibilities for uhbiks...

One being a more "tape-like" interpolated single tap echo plugin (uhbik-E?) with a multimode filter (with resonance) and soft saturation inside the feedback loop, complete with an automatable ability to mute or unmute the input (perhaps even doing so with midi notes so you can make specific "hits" in a drum loop sent to the echo without automating sends)... You know, the kind of thing that really brings the dub.

the other being what I envision as uhbik-B (for bitter, or some other play on the word bit, but not just "uhbik bitcrusher" because this would do so much more)... Basically it would have a noise generator (with the same options as zebras... white, pink, digital, or crackles), a filter for said noise, a mix control for mixing in the noise with the original signal, low and high end rolloffs for that "lo-fi" feel, independent control of bit depth and sample rate, and then a noise gate to top it all off. Kind of a general grunge/lo-fi/digitize effect.

Anyway, let's make a thread with all sorts of concept ideas, and maybe urs might even see a few he likes enough to make :)

I'd love to see a real time granular that barrows some of the concept from my beloved Audioease Riverrun. I think U-he's stamp on something like that would be mind blowing.

I think there is a granular effect coming. I don't know if it works at all like riverrun though.

not that I would ever advocate stealing ideas from other independent software developers, but Audio Damage's Ricochet multi-tap delay is pretty much in the universe as Uhbik effects

Post

I'd like to see a plugin or DAW function that takes a whole heap of bad tracks from a bad drummer on bad drums, and automatically replaces them all with good tracks from a good drummer on good drums... ;)

Hmmm... I must admit that I had thought deeply about Ricochet, but then reverted to the simplicity of Uhbik-D. This is because Uhbik-D is IMHO the optimal tape-style thing that also works for surround. A surround-style Ricochet would possibly be a cpu hog, and require so many more knobs.

I also don't want Uhbik to cover grounds of my other plugins, such as MFM2. Which for 4 taps does a hell of a lot of tricks, beyond any 4-tapped delay I know. More to come in 2009.

Happy New Year,

;) Urs

P.S.: I have a sheer endless reservoir of Uhbiks-to-come. It's just a matter of time and demand. It's predecessors sadly died out. But the spirit is still there.

Nope. 1) The drummer I'm thinking of has poor timing and dynamics. 2) Automatic replacement = adjust everything

Uhbik-T - makes toast
Uhbik-V - sex toy extraordinaire
Uhbik-L - ensures you are never late to work
Uhbik-W - does the work
Uhbik-M - makes money
Uhbik-Ph - attracts women like flies
Uhbik-Z - creates Nirvana

simple?

I must be delay-stupid....... :hihi:

I also have found uhbik-D confusing to say the least out of all the plugs. Looking forward to the manuals. i have a built in delay. I should get it right about now! Hang on not yet...

I want that compressor from Zebra. :hihi:

This one sounds very nice, especially if it's focussed on making a dub performance, like you said with automating the input mute, or have switch for 100% feedback like ohmboyz, that sort of thing.

I haven't really been able to make that classic dub thing with mfm2 yet, but maybe I just don't understand mfm2 enough (I use it a lot, but can't say I know it very well)

Yeah, a dub style delay that could do smooth pitch bombs/tape stop effects from urs would not only be awesome, I'm sure it would involve some new interpolation code that could be VERY cool as an extra mode once MFM 3 rolls around :P
