I like Mitch's bitter idea.

It's hard for me to make suggestions since we don't have X yet. Once we have the central nervous system, I suspect we'll all start using Uhbik a little differently. What kind of modulation sources will there be in X?

Since these are all surround, I'd love to see a sort of spacial visualizer macro Uhbik, where you can set inputs to certain places in a 2d or 3d environment, and it uses the other Uhbiks to make the effect (for example, placement in a room using reverb and panning, etc). Although, truth be told, I haven't figured how any of the surround stuff works.

As for other modules, not sure. A good and useful formant filter wouldn't hurt, maybe some kind of audio-reactive oscillator gizmo, in the spirit of the Moog Freqbox.

That would be quite the addition. Uhbik-V (Vowel)?

I'm working on a quite stunning one. Status of X is still pretty much WIP, but all major difficulties (i.e. optimal memory usage) are sorted out.

While I do think that X will change some ways of usage, I still think that the single effects are what Uhbik is about in the first place.

One integral part of Uhbik is the convergence of stereo and surround. The effects are thought out so that they offer full surround support while maintaining a stereo-centered interface. This is immediately obvious with delay, reverb and modulation plugins while it may be a little less obvious with the current versions of the filters (Q & Runciter). Latter could as well be multi-mono plugins.

Surround is mostly a grey area. The more I learn about it the less I know. There's no such thing as a surround standard. One can faithfully multiply the multichannel offerings of all hosts available by the number of people who work with surround. And then some, because people tend to handle surround differently from project to project. The last two weeks (less the lazy days) were much about flexibility in that respect. Which I hope to make available in a few hours (depending on how the Win port of the new features goes).

Later,

;) Urs
