What IS StudioPhonic, really?

Grrrrr something "hot" from IK. I still have to catch up with the bundled hardware units (StompIO, ARC, and the little box thingie for my Mac Mini, and some of the footswitchiness) to complete the set, don't do this to me!!

Hey, I was just following up with Buscemi's post...
But as long as you are still in development, could you please, please, please make those great drum kits in both IMAP AND GM format (or at least provide a script for EZ PRo for GM conversion)? I don't think I'm the only one here with tons of GM MIDI files that would like to be able to take advantage of those great sounds.
Cheers

I will 'occasionally' create my own beats. But I have no desire to be a drummer. More importantly, though, there's no way I could create any new beat that isn't already in some MIDI library somewhere.buscemi wrote:Hey.. the "B" list at work here.BERFAB wrote:Hey, I was just following up with Buscemi's post...![]()

-BI like the way you are thinking about the loops but I have to say that I'm totally enjoying learning IMAP and as I get better I'm betting loops will be less important. So go forth, young man, and learn ye some IMAP drumming!!
Besides, I do see the merit in IMAP. I'm not for a moment suggesting that it be thrown under the bus. It's a great performance tool. However, there's no reason it can't exist side by side with the standard GM format. A format many of us have invested a good deal of time and money on, I may add.
So when I have access to a premium kit (or kits) like in Studiophonik, I'm just saying it would be nice to be able to use them.
So you're saying there's a chance?...

No, Studiophonik will not have GM. Too much work to do inside ST and that will make it take even longer. But, you can easily remap it with Cubase or many DAWS.
If you want specifically GM then we're coming out with OmniDrummer powered by KitCore that is only GM (no I-Map). And of course if you want BOTH I-Map and GM then we have the Infinite Player (also full discrete multi-channel). All of the instruments for Studiophonik will be released in larger streaming versions for Infinite Player. However, keep in mind that the big thing about Studiophonik is the whole "studio inside" concept where you have those effects which are unique to SampleTank. So it is how the sounds are processed and can be processed that makes them unique in ST engine based products and there's also a cool "mix" knob for quick dry to wet mixes... each product has its thing about it. But, GM is not a part of SPK. It would also take up twice the space because of the discrete monolith type format vs. other samplers that are able to reference the same data with a different mapping like we did in Infinite and often do in Reason as well. When we can do that and also a remap such as in a script then we can do it more easily than redoing it completely and repeating it for GM. We've done it before such as in our Studio Drums Capsule but look how HUGE that one is in ST! It's not practical to do an even larger library that way .

What about an EZPlayer free/pro script for IMAP-->GM? Or a Cubase conversion script? Those couldn't be too difficult, no?
BTW, I just loaded the Bruford and White Drumpacks. Man, those guys are monsters on the skins. Some of the most unique rhythms I've heard. 17/8? C'mon!
Great stuff.
