Wow, these would be interesting for other developers without NI login too.Hlis93 wrote:Slgihtly off topic:
For those that have reaktor I have uploaded 15 files of panel elements to the user library, about 640MB. Most of it involved Knobman man in one way or another. Sorry I don't have a pic but is hundreds of objects with multiple sizes I didn't want to edit a pic for it maybe latter...
Here's the link to NI's user library where they stored at:

Heres a pic of what is in one of them:
Can't you save the .knob files at another webspace?

This sort of stuff actually makes me wish Knobman could export into some format with layers (or does it already) such that if some particular layer between 20 others needs some aftertouching, one could render the layered knob, load it into Photoshop or Gimp or whatever, do the desired tweaking on the relevant layer, and flatten the result for use, without having to export the layers and recombine them manually one by one... or is there some trick I'm missing?Hlis93 wrote: The ones pictured above are done with knobman and Photoshop, I did a bunch of crazy things with actions in Photoshop and used layer with filter combined with Knobman at various stages, they look simple but the proccess was a bit of pain in the ass. The point is that it's not as simple as a .knob file I would have to organize .psd files and action scripts etc as well as all the individual frames that I had to make into strips etc etc, but mostly I am keeping these few for myself for now. I really, really like them.

Yeah that's the manual way, though I never actually thought of bringing them back to Knobman, rather export all the layers, and do the final composition elsewhere (for example to circumvent the lack of certain blending modes), and it gets a bit tedious to manually export each layer one by one.Hlis93 wrote:solo the layers you want export them as a .png

Yeah. White light is boring.. but the thing is miss the most is histogram adjustments.Hlis93 wrote: 1. The control over the lighting effects and the coloring used in them.
This would be especially nice to have in knobman (and I guess the name of the effect you want is bump mapping) because it lets one do stuff like add roughness or scratches to a surface with a texture, without touching the color.. and if you could do that in knobman, and get the lighting calculated separately for each rotated frame, you could get a slightly rough surface that rotates and the miniscule lighting turn around with the knob.2. The ablitity to keep the lighting effects and remove the fill color.
One can do some of this in skinman with creative use of the "shape-" mode actually.. here's an example with 4 layers. The "wannabe wood" plate (shaded color, low intensity hairline as texture) is at the bottom, the black text on top. Between these two is a duplicate of the bottom layer, but with a modified copy of the text (with wide round border and lots of diffuse) used as a "shape-" modifier in order to carve a hole into the top layer of wood..

The word you mean is mask: using a separate black and white image as the alpha channel (typically multiplied with the original alpha channel if the image already has one).. and like you say, often the mask you want is the alpha channel of another layer.3. I am able to load a image and clip it to the edges of the a shape, a mash I think its called.

I see such great work here. Thanks to everyone, for the knobs and bits, and if I knew where g200kg was, I'd buy him a beer. (or whatever he liked)

You can do one better and donate the price of a beer at his website. This directly supports further development of knobman/skinman.

Question: If someone make an image of a button in another format (like .bmp) can you import that in Knobman and save as a .knob image??

You can import a .bmp .jpg etc and then you can apply effects to the imported picture, rotate it, zoom, mask, lighting etc.... then you can save as a .knob file or export as a knob strip. Is that what you meant? Generally, you can make a knob out of a external image.Question: If someone make an image of a button in another format (like .bmp) can you import that in Knobman and save as a .knob image??
