Very mixed feelings
I *love* the filter, tremolo, EQ, freq shifter.
The delay is Okayyy. Not the best, but very useable.
It's suppose to be that way. If you want a killer delay look at MFM2.
The flanger & phaser didn't really do it for me, but are cool for a very cold clinical kind of phase & flange. They remind me a lot of the GRM tools phaser. Unique character, but not always what I want when I reach for a phaser.
I think they're the best flanger and phaser I've ever heard.
what I don't understand, however, is how URS could be *SO* close on the filter, but not include an LFO!!! Other than that, & perhaps a few more esoteric filter types (vowel, band reject, comb, etc..), it's perfection and I really love it. It's got a nice interface, easy to use, able to get some great sounds out of it quickly, and IT SOUNDS AMAZING.
Like Mitch1989 said, wait for Uhbik-X. It's a kind of rack for all the other Uhbik fx and you'll have lots of modulation options.
Similar with the tremolo. Easily one of the best I've ever heard, very very cool plugin. BUT-- there's no visible way to conjure up a square wave
I was able to get some square-ish sounds out of it, but every once in a while, I want a *real* tight square wave tremolo. Very important, IMO.
Look for pattern mode (and try the presets).
All in all, I'm very impressed, especially for the price. I'm really sure that I'd buy if those features were present. However, without em, I way more reluctant to buy as the plugs' usability goes WAY down for me.
Also, remember that Uhbik is going to be a suite of plugins, there's more to come! :)

Tough choice, I'm struggling over the two choices as well, but given the SoundToys demo crashed the f**k out of my computer, even with an iLok, I might end up with Uhbik by default.

I demoed the soundtoys plugs recently. Took a bit to get them working but when they did they were good and interesting in their implementation. I may one day get them, but man, Uhbik totally scratched the itch I was having at 1/4 the price (I guess you've already missed that deal though). I feel they're of similar quality but different enough in personality that if in the future you wanted to get the Soundtoys you'd find places to use each of them.

On a similar note, Oligarc is still on my list as different enough to warrant a purchase even though it's functionality overlaps with Uhbik.

I've got both the Soundtoys stuff and Uhbik and have to say they only really overlap in features, the similarity ends there. The way that you can customize the delay models in Echoboy is unparalleled but only Uhbik-D lets you send delay taps to any of 8 outputs. Filterfreak's "analog mode" overdrive has a completely different character than Runciter's overdrive and fuzz. Tremolator has a vastly different modulation engine from Uhbik-T, same deal with Phase Mistress and Uhbik-P.

I've found that if anything these bundles compliment each other quite well. I wonder if Urs meant for that to be the case?

Both bundles are deceptively simple and provide much deeper sound sculpting through parameters that at first seem foreign (haas delay, prime numbers) but they become instantly familiar. They also both have a knack for using visual cues to draw attention to certain parameters (though the folks at Soundtoys could probably learn a thing or two about UI design from Urs :hihi:). This is simply another case where comparisons *can* be made between two products but untill you try them side by side, you won't know how well they compliment each other. :)

I know they're different, I just don't know which ones to buy first.

:hihi:

I guess I didn't make your decision any easier. Well, I'd probably go with the one that doesn't crash your system like crazy. I have noticed that the AU and RTAS are still much more stable than the VSTs but considering how rock solid the RTAS and AU are, I figure they'll have the VST versions straightened out soon.

Well, the one that's on sale for a limited time offer, of course.

If you haven't DLd them lately, do so... the new presets give you a much better idea of the quality. One of the reasons these plugs are really great, is because they are very cpu efficient. You can add them to Synths that don't have FX and create some really nice stuff. Almost like getting another synth in the deal. Something to think about... :)

well i read the hole 2 pages :hihi: & no mention of the reverb?

thats worth 199 IMO

to me every plug is top notch & when -X comes out some presets will be :o

I'd love to see an expanded fuzz module. It would be awesome to have one where you could say select transistor types for Q positions. Say a germanium for Q1, silicon for Q2, option to add a rectifier, etc.

An authoritative fuzz effect, in other words. A few VST's get close, but none really pull off the originals. If anyone could do it, Urs can.

I've really been holding back on making snaps for these in lieu of waiting for X..

Every single plugin in this bundle is worth the price of the bundle all by itself. You're getting 8 times what you paid for, and more is going to be added.
