On the other hand I find the delay to be lacking something. Can't really put my finger on it.

The rest are classics.
Yeh, audio is always very subjective, especially reverbs. I kind of like the spatial stereo image I can get with it but the tail contains some metallic elements that I keep trying to notch out with an EQ.

To be honest, I have not really tried the delay because I have too many other delay plugins to choose from already but it should be quite useful as it can do up to 5 taps.

I'd say the main attraction are the superb modulation effects, they really are unique in the plugin world, at least in my experience. I've never heard any other modulation plugin sound so smooth and "lush". They really do remind me of analogue phasers/flanger magic boutique boxes.

I'm not an expert on this but I was under the impression that all plate reverbs sound a little "metallic"? Anyway, I really like Uhbik-A.

I love these and really getting into them, but I do have a question.

Is it normal for these to lower the sound level? Not sure why but when I use one of these effects it lowers the volume quite a bit. If I bypass the effect the sound level goes right back up.

Anyone else getting this?

I usually have to turn Runciter down or it rips my ears off ;)

Which Uhbik(s) are you talking about?

Peace,
Andy.

All of them really. Not sure why. A few presets will keep the sound level the same but I would say 95% lower the sound level. I am going to go back and check again on a different project.

it's in the nature of modulation effects to have a perceived drop in volume. That's because the comb filter will cancel out lots of frequencies but also pronounce some. While the actual peak level pretty much stays the same, the perceived level may drop.

It's different with feedback though. With feedback, the emphasized frequencies may become very loud.

Urs,
I have urged an online acquainatnce to contact you regarding the possibility that the coming pitch shift Uhbik could emulate a 'realistic' 'humanized' vibrato.

How's that for planting a seed idea?

Not at all. At least the real deal is very "non-static" and moving, full of "modulation" and if you don't EQ it it'll be pretty dark. Some would perhaps even call it "wobbly".

With "metallic" I mean a type of "Static grain" that gets repeats that same grain over and over again. Hard to describe. A nasty test source for any reverb would be a nearly completely closed hihat, struck at various positions, on the edge and near the bell. Run this sound into a reverb and see what happens.

It's perhaps partly the bad digital implementations of some units that have made the term "plate reverb" synonymous to the metallic "fizzzzzzz!" you hear in so many units. :)

Grainy reverb does however NOT equal a bad reverb. For vocals or other semi-smooth sources it might actually be preferred to a totally smooth or dense reverb. The lexicon 300L or 480L was hardly super dense but instead has a hint of grain in them. Still they are awesome on many sources.
