I never said TASSMAN will not work, schoko wrote:yes, I know, but it is not impossible as far as Danny told us before.kiminet wrote: I don't think it Tassman 4 will work since it needs challenge /response to register which is related to a specific machine.
I was just wondering if there are any (good) news about the challenge/response stuff relating Tassman / NI and so on.
The Demo works, and even an original can work,
It is just that it is not easy for users to do this as yet, and it is just a firmware update, the way we do it is via VNC more to come...
some info comming out at NAMM as well which should make you all Happy.

Different CPU Boards.. possible...AzureCrystal wrote:Are you thinking they will offer a firmware upgrade that would allow the vmachine to support a new cpu chip that the "user" can then switch ? and if so, it sure would not be free ? Just curious, those little mini PCs are very single purpose, I would be surprised you could just plug in a different cpu chip....DragonSagoth wrote:Don't nail anything down. In Actual fact we found some plugins such as YELLOW TOOLS INDEPENDENCE which can utilize Dual core, it would not work on the V-Machine with it switch on, but you can switch it off in the preferences section and then it works very very well on the V-Machine. Actually one of my favorites. (independence free)JazzSinger wrote:The host provides a conduit through which the control and output of the plugin runs. The actual process of producing the sound is entirely the job of the VST plugin. To make use of multicore processors, it must be programmed to do so. It does not happen automatically because the host is multicore, and it cannot work independently without constantly synching with the host, and this has to be specifically programmed.ZioKiller wrote:Consider that a VST plugins runs as a host's child process, so if the host takes advantage of the multi-core CPU, the plugin will do as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
The programming world still hasn't found practical uses for multicore technology. Practically all programming tasks work on the principle of first you do A, then use that to do B, then use that to do C, etc.
If you have time, you might like to look up some sites where programmers are discussing multicore processor coding. Look at the examples. They are limited to things like printing in the background, or building up the screen image whilst the program itself gets on with something else (which is done by the CPU on the graphics card anyway).
You might also try, just with pen and paper. Sketch out the various parts of a VST synth, connected to tone or effect plugins. How would you use multicore capabilities whilst ensuring the bytes flow without losing any, or without having to fill gaps when one process finishes before another?
Benefical use of multicores works only on processes that are really and truly independent from each other, like, say, Google's internet search server farms.
Wine can be thought of as a "host".ZioKiller wrote:That said, the V-Machine will enormously benefit from a dual core CPU since Wine should already support multi-core processors.
Generally, you will find software upgrades which say they are now multicore compatible. This usually simply means they don't crash on multicore processors, it does NOT mean they actually use the technology in any useful way.
I might just add that multicore technology has been around on the PC since Windows NT. NT supported motherboards with up to 16 individual CPUs, even back then. They never took off because nobody had a use for them. That hasn't changed.

Hi I also think not, the VST must support dual core, it does not matter if the host supports it and as far as I know %99 don't.ZioKiller wrote:Consider that a VST plugins runs as a host's child process, so if the host takes advantage of the multi-core CPU, the plugin will do as well.

What you be willing to pay? $200 $150 $100 for double the power?AzureCrystal wrote:I'm definitely buying more ram and I am willing to pay $ for the cpu upgrade, if it is at all possible to upgrade, those mini motherboards are very tied to the chip, IMHO would be an issue, but maybe I am wrong, I hope !!ZioKiller wrote:+1DragonSagoth wrote:a CPU upgrade (preferably to dualcore) is not wanted, it's NEEDED in today's time.

This I hate to hear... I was told that certain PC's in Europe running windows with another language had an issue. I can guarranty (and I don't do this often!) that is will be sorted out ASAP. I will sit on thier head until it is done.. what language is your PC in?VSTinus wrote:A running copy of the VFX-software on my computer would make me happy. XP sp3 language: Dutch. I already know about the language issue in Germany. I hope it will be fixed very soon. Bought the V-machine begin december last year, and it's so frustating not to be able to use the software. I have a gig tonight, i really wanted to show off with the v-machine.

1. Are you running 1219 on your V-Machine as yet?
If not you can download an IMAGE and put it in the V-Machine without the use of the sfotware (just use a stick)
Second thing. You could put some plugs on a stick (just create a Plugs directory and then each directory for each plug inside it) similar to the plugs directory on your PC at the moment. No need for Banks...
Let me know if you need a link to download 1219 into a stick, I will help you where I can.

BTW have you tried by any change to change the language in Windows to EnglishVSTinus wrote:XP sp3 language: Dutch. I already know about the language issue in Germany. The issue for me as a support person is that Microsoft tells me that thier should be no difference running in English or any other language..
But obviously it is not the case.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... 57045.aspx
In worst case situation, you could run in Virtual Machine (free download) an english win XP but still I much rather get it running on your current machine.
Please do change the language and try. The only thing I can think of is different path names.
