Your PC is missing the driver for standard midi devices probably, you will find it in the knowledge base (how to download a stadard USB MIDI driver and make it work on the V) then you can update to 1219 easily.
Otherwise setup a support ticket on the SMPROAUDIO website
Hi Danny,

I don't find the article on the knowledge base, but I had my usb problem solved thanks to Marco (I thank you very much!). The problem now is that although the V-M is connected, the update freezes and nothing happens.

I also cannot find where to download the firmware to update from a stick!!

Another strange thing is that the VFX Application doesn't have the 'options' menu. I downloaded the software 2 days ago from the SM site so I'm sure it is the latest version.

I really need help!!

My firmware is 20081031

I do this myself without any issues. The unit cannot know if the midi info is note or not.. it just passes the midi information to all the slots.

You are talking about patch changes and pitch etc?
I'm talking about any MIDI message which is not a note. I'll make an example:

I have four plug-ins. They are in Mixer Channel 1 - Slot 1, Mixer Channel 1 - Slot 1, Mixer Channel 3 - Slot 1 and Mixer Channle 4 Slot 1. They are assigned to MIDI Channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.

My controls are set to change their MIDI Channel depending on the global channel of the keyboard.
Let's say I assign MIDI CC 114 on MIDI Channel 1 to affect a knob on the first plug-in, and the same MIDI CC on MIDI Channel 2 to affect a parameter on the secon plug-in: when my MIDI keyboard is set on Channel 1, the keys only affect the first plug-in, but MIDI CC 114 will affect both plug-in, even if it's supposed to affect only MIDI Channel 1.

I know it's not the keyboard's fault because with Ableton it works fine this way.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

As far as language problem is concerned, one application is needed to solve the problem: AppLocale! I use it for running Japanese games and stuff like that. You google for AppLocale, download it, install, and then run it. Select the program you want to run (in this case, VFX application), tell AppLocale in which language you need it to be run (in this case, English), and it won't matter if your Windows is set to Dutch, Russian or whatever, it will probably run as if it were genuine English Windows. Try it!
Downloaded it immediately, selected english as language, but same crash as before. Thanks for the tip though.

Don't forget to check your XP logfiles (Event viewer), perhaps you find something in relation to this error
I did look into the log file before, but all it returns is "Application Failure vfx.exe 1.0.17.0 in vfx.exe1.0.17.0 at offset 00032c13.." But also thanks for the tip.

Hi!
I got a question for all you M-Tron Pro users out there. Suppose you want to play several M-Tron-Sounds live (for example the Strings, the Flutes and the Choir). What is the best method to switch between those sounds while keepin the Loading-Times as low as possible?

I've tried the following method: I've set up a Bank and a Preset in the VFX-Software. Then I loaded the M-Tron-Software in all of the four Mixer-Channels - so that every Channel had a different sound (Channel 1: Strings, Channel 2: Flute and so on). My idea was that (in a Live-Situation) I just have to put the Channels on "Solo" or "Mute" - depending on the Sound I need. Everything worked fine - until I changed the Banks in the VFX-Software. When I wanted to go back to my M-Tron-Bank, the Software crashed to desktop :x .
So what is the best solution for using several M-Tron-Sounds live?
Regards
Peter

Hi Mr.Sax I am not sure but I think should be ok, I run SAXLAB without any problem. CS80 demo is on our wizard file list and runs well. WAVESTATION need a Syncrosoft dongle to run, this is not supported as yet (next few weeks)

One way to do it would be to load the plugin on the 4 channels plus the 2 aux channels giving you 6 instances of the plugin. You load a different sound into each plugin and then change the 'midi' from 'all' to a different midi channel. That way all you need to do to change sounds is set your midi keyboard to the ch that corresponds to the sound your after. This should be pretty much instant with no loading times. You could use automation to activate the solo and mutes for each channel however that would take more fiddling around then doing it with midi channels.

I tested this with mtron pro and found the plugin crashes when multiple chunk files are loaded. If you delete the chunk files from the bank folder then you can open the bank without crashes. Since this does not happen with other plugins that I have tested it appears you will need to report this to mtron pro support and ask them to look for a bug in their plugin which is causing it to crash when multiple chunk files are sent to the plugin.

Hi,

If you look at the .VFX file in a Preset of a BANK (open with WORD PAD as it will be formated better this way)

You can see a transpose function there, it is not in the GUI but in this info file, try it out.

Hi Danny,
in these days I'm working at a new plugin specifically "lightweight" for the V-Machine, but I noticed that when scrolling parameter values on the display, only 16 steps are available. I need at least 128 steps. Is this possible?

Hi,

Albino3 FULL version is working now! :) A little bit too heavy for the v-machine cpu (1 voice = 25%), but for Solo-Sounds, this is no real issue for me.

Nice for solo sounds. Now, finally, I can start programming WX5-Sounds for the "portable albino" 8)

Hint: Albino starts by default with the "Ambient Sounds"-Bank. Put your favourite sounds into that bank, and they are accessible on the machine.

BUT: Saving presets is still an serious issue: saving generates a chunk file causing the v-machine not finding the dll...

If I delete the chunk-file, programm-changes etc. are lost.... :?

One way may be to change the Albino presets directly and not v-machine-presets by MIDI-Programm-change. Is that possible? (edit: yes, it is, found in the menu of the v-machine...)
