There are close alternatives(unless you are a super classical player who can't live without the perfect piano) which play samples and should be good enough for live playing, let's face it, any vmachine type product at this price point will not comete with a 3 ghz desktop, but that is not what its for, this tiny beast is for live playing and in that situation, IMHO you dont need the power of Pianoteq.

I totally agree (even though I am a pianoplayer).

Really??? Up to now I didn't find ONE decent Pianoplugin that runs on the V-Machine. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I guess that East/West ultimate piano on samplelord or other sampleplayer will work .I have several pianos including Ivory and The Grand and Ultimate piano is in spite of a very small size far the best samples.

Hmmm...another Guess. Are you sure that it runs?

Well, to be honest, the only ones I tested are the grand from sampletank included and the 4piano, and to be really honest, my vmachine has been idle since I bought it, after I figured most of my plugins wont work yet on it I just stopped playing with it, kinda sucks.....

My thought about V-Machine's CPU power: I'm not sure what kind of CPU is this, I suppose it's an Intel Celeron Mobile (maybe 1st generation, P3 technology). What I surely know is that there's definitely something wrong with this thing.

I'm working at a new plugin that I'm trying to optimize for the V-Machine the best I can, so I'm doing many tests with different computer configurations. Among my laptops I own a Asus EEE 904HD which has an Intel Celeron-M ULV 353 @ 900 MHz, also I have a very old laptop based on a Celeron @ 1GHz (dated 1999).

Well, the EEE (running Win XP Home) performs 40-50% better than the V-Machine, and the old GEO laptop seems to be 20-30% faster (running Win ME).

I think the virtual machine is cutting down most of the actual CPU power.
Also, I doubt that the 2 CPUs are really working together, because when I reach high peaks (rightmost indicator all the way up), all the buttons on the front panel just freeze, stop acting (changing parameters, etc.).

I think a CPU upgrade is urgent, at a very affordable price. Otherwise the V-Machine can only be used for simple monosynths and effects. I don't feel like playing 32 voices sampled instruments, we are in 2009.

Yes, and at at $599, its to close to being laptop priced, I could have saved a little more and got a nice laptop and audio device which would have been a lot better than the machine just sitting turned off since I bought it, I did not return it because it was not my supplier's fault, they are selling a unit that advertises working with VSTs, if I return it(I can only wait so long), I will contact smpro and ask for a full refund. Unfortunately I am soon getting to that point as I have not seen ONE new wizard file added to their site since I bought the thing, the only new one was the "Yellow" drum plugin, all the others were there from day one and most of those were demos....

Ok, let's give the guys some break, after all these are the NAMM days and what Danny did for us is undoubtedly remarkable.

I'm sure that after the NAMM show they'll unfold some great news for us all.

Finger crossed :D

you are right, I was wondering why it was so quiet at smpro !! I really love "the promise" of the vmachine. hopefully they can deliver....

Danny has been a great sport through all of this, he is a great guy and offered top notch support on this forum, second to none. If it weren't for him, mine would be back at the store, you convinced me, I will wait for the next upgrade !!

Hi everyone, Yes I am at the NAMM show so I am sorry for not replying to all the Forum posts, I am not sure what ZIO is discussing about issues with the CPU, we now have all the IK productst running on the V-Machine, Sample MOOG, SOnik Synth, Sample Tank, Philharmonic Orchestra etc. Several other companies will release info about how to authorise the plugins as well..

If you have some Tech Support questions, enter a support Ticket and I am sure Mathew will take care of this ASAP until I get back. I will update you all with a list of new plugins which are authorised to run shortly.
The sun is going to shine in the morning, at least above the clouds.

Thanks!!!

I finally solved my problems. It seems I had something wrong in my main Win XP (which now is completely KO), maybe a virus. I tried it whith a second Win XP installed in the same PC and it worked!!!

Now, the next problem is the lack of the "Options" in the menu clicking the orange power icon! Any ideas here?

thanks in advance
Ramon

can someone test this on their vmachine please and let me know if it works for them?

To get TruePianosTrial to work you need to do 2 things.

1.Launch the plugin in standalone first, and press 'options' in the bottom of the plugins window. Disable the 'sympathatic resonances' box and press 'save current plugin state as default' this creates the default.fxp file the wizard refers to and will mean the polyphony of the plugin is higher. If you dont do this first the wizard will create an unknown error as the file is not yet created by the plugin.
2. You need to replace the word 'Demo' in the files_to_copy section to be the name you login to windows with. If you click on your starbar it will be the name at the top. Demo is my user name so this needs to be edited to your user name. You will get errors if you dont edit this correctly.

The options menu, this was removed before the software was released to the public. The manual was created before the software had been finalised and hence may be slightly different to the released software.

Good to hear your unit is now fully updated and thanks for taking the time to post back here to let people know.
